Almost two years ago, we were presented with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: accepting a commission to create the official FIFA World Cup theme song for Houston 🏆 Now, with just 60 days until matches begin, I couldn’t be more proud of our Bombón family. @foxhollowhouston that was the blueprint. A lot of these DIY bars and favorite venues people love today? That energy traces back to Fox Hollow. That’s where a lot of us made our bones the predecessor to so much of what Houston is now. Don’t get it twisted there were venues, DJs, and underground parties before it. I had already been in the scene about 10 years. But Houston was different back then… Fox Hollow shifted something. Gotta give Patrick Drew his flowers. His vision made that place what it was. He pushed people to be better and really took care of us. It was a real melting pot Black, brown, everything in between. Latin, house, drum & bass all in one space. Our live shows shit everybody come through from Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole to Louie Vega and Tony Humphries and The Chosen Few DJs. Fox Hollow was real community. Everybody who came out that house is still here, still contributing. In my opinion, that was the origin of a lot of this. Fridays — Latin nights w/ Hector (Culture Beat), free salsa 9–10, DJ Gerardo & DJ David Cruz + Salmerum live 1st Saturdays — Bombón (Gracie, Bobby, Melissa, Ilya, Alex, Panch, Actbadd) 2nd Saturdays — Grande (Big Reeks, Candlestick) 3rd Saturdays — A Really Kool Party (RK ,Dayta, Hiram, Gracie Chavez) 4th Sundays — The Frenzi Crew (DnB nights) And Sundays? That was the staple. Before Address. Before Social Junkie… there was Fox Hollow Sundays. Chocolate Sundays. Red Cup Sundays @ Fox — different names, same energy. “Don’t leave Houston on a Sunday.” Dave Anderson, Jermaine Patterson, Mark Martin, Paco Redmond, Neportis Polo, Christian Pope that original Sunday crew laid it down. Shoutout Ced and the Twins too. DJ Skywalker, Red Soda, Big Reeks, Bobby Bandz, DJ Shante, Grooves the Funky Drummer they made Sundays what they were. Met real brothers and sisters. Built relationships that still stand today including my business partners JC and Actbadd. Wepa/ Yhp didn’t start at Fox but we ended there before they closed and where the foundation was laid. Fox Hollow wasn’t just a venue… that’s where Houston’s underground grew. Crazy… sad even… to see it finally get torn down. - Forever The DoorGuy!
