BODYSTORM brings vertical dance and live music to the corner of Turk and Taylor on the eve and day of the SF Trans March. Queer ecology teaches us that we are not separate from the Earth, that we carry what came before us, and build what has not yet been imagined. By uplifting the voices of queer leaders past, present, and emerging, we lay the foundation to rewild our future.

On this Trans Day of Visibility, BODYSTORM is proud to announce a new vertical dance performance beyond the binary. Premiering June 26, 2026, coinciding with the SF Trans March, with a preview performance on the 25th. There is no more visible a stage than the side of a building!

Featuring performance artist Pangaea! Actress, drag starlet, and ¼ of The House of Perception, Pangaea brings her high-concept singing, writing, costuming, and activism to the vertical stage. Pangaea is a multifaceted Bay Area artist uplifting Black and Brown, trans, and queer artists by helping to build vibrant, inclusive creative spaces. You’ve probably seen her in action with Shotgun Players, Joe Goode Performance Group, Fresh Meat Festival, Oasis, and more. We are lucky to have her sing LIVE FROM THE WALL in TRANSMARSH!

For @ybca presents Megan Lowe Dances’ “Air Between Us,” a vertical dance experience, May 15-17

B Dean (they/he) is an earthbound and airborne dancer, white transboy, and queer world builder based in unceded Ohlone territory (the Bay Area) for 14 years. They also perform with BANDALOOP, Zaccho Dance Theater, Sean Dorsey Dance, Joe Goode Performance Group, and Circo Zero. Under their dance project, BODYSTORM, B centers queer/trans experiences in site-specific physical thinking experiments highlighting the intelligent technology of nature and body. This is B’s first project with MLD, but B and I have taught together many times over the past decade with BANDALOOP and Joe Goode Performance Group, and we recently performed together with Flyaway. Excited they are a part of the “Air Between Us” team!

Inspired by Chick Corea’s band and a playlist from 1975, Return to Forever is both a return and a reimagining - a callback to the music that shaped Artistic Director Joanna Haigood’s early creative life, and a reconstructed memory of decades of work created at our beloved Zaccho Studio.
RTF features performances by amara tabor-smith, B Dean, Clarissa Rivera Dyas, Eli Shi, Saharla Vetsch, Veronica Blair, and William Brewton Fowler Jr., artists whose collective work lives at the intersection of movement, spirit, community, and transformation.
Come witness a series of solos and duets that engages memory to honor history, acknowledge the present, and create what is to come.

“In a stark, dimly-lit dystopia where flesh deviates and identities fracture, TEETH plunges into the shadows where trans bodies become monstrous, not as objects of horror, but as sites of radical imagination and necessary adaptation. BODYSTORM’s contemporary dance nightmare/solo with jose e abad’s haunting soundscore creates a gender apocalypse that bites back against the looming threat of our extinction and holds up a mirror to reveal the dangerous beauty of our interconnected monstrosities. The work is the second part in a series exploring the trans body as a force of nature. Beginning with OBSESSED (2025) and ending with HAUNT (2027), TEETH exists in a wasteland on its own or as a mutant growth in the middle of a living, morphing triptych.”
B Dean (they/he) is an earthbound / airborne dance artist dedicated to eco-social collaborations that create portals for imagination and becoming. A white boi raised in occupied Arapaho / Ute lands (Colorado), they have been based in unceded Ohlone territory (Bay Area) for 13 years. B performs with BANDALOOP, Flyaway Productions, Sean Dorsey Dance, Zaccho Dance Theater, Joe Goode Performance Group, and Circo Zero. Under their dance project BODYSTORM, B centers queerness in physical thinking experiments that highlight the intelligent technology of nature and body.
Composer jose esteban abad (they/them) is an Afro-Caribbean Filipinx interdisciplinary performance artist nesting in unceded Ramaytush Ohlone Territory (SF). Their work is rooted in the embodied and sonic poetics of relations, collaboration, and improvisation, as tools of resistance and liberation across geopolitical borders. They are currently the Co-Director of Bridge Live Arts, RUPTURE, a member of BANDALOOP and AD of fugitivity labs.

Come spend a weekend in curiosity, technique and practice with spherical dancing, contact improvisation, BANDALOOP rope and harness work, and embodied listening practices.
The day will begin with a terrestrial slow warm up into partnering and touch afforded by clear consent practices, into contact improvisation opening curiosity and sensation into gravity play, solo and with other bodies. B will then guide the class into BANDALOOP harness work, bringing the techniques and awareness into low and middle air.
