We had the pleasure of turning 3 blank environments into something completely new. An outdoor party space, an indoor chill-out room, and an after-party club space to see in the morning. All elements designed, built and programmed by Taking Shape.

Our first dance of the year. Joining us for the ride are two stellar selectors powered by a flawless Paradise Hifi sound system.
Steering the ship is Blason and Mush Love, well known for their wicked collections that ooze with flavour and personality. We’re in for a night of deep, beautiful music.

Four years, how time flies..
For us, this means everything.
Our most ambitious gathering to date. 18 hours of music across 2 of the city’s most cherished spots, alongside an unused open air location.
Expect workshops for the makers, record shops for the diggers, 3 bespoke lighting installations and custom sound systems throughout to power us through our journey.
We can’t thank you all enough for the trust, energy & kindness over the past four years. It keeps the cogs turning.

Installation for @timefliesmcr , with @janefitzislost , in Manchester at @1520studiosmcr
For this concept we repurposed one of our designs from last summer’s Loud Places Festival. Our squares were stripped back and re-coded for a new context: no longer an intention form emerging from a woodland, now situated in a concrete shell, piercing the ceiling as light portals.
Rigging the volume of this install was a proper structural puzzle, but the outcome was well worth it. The focus was the dynamic portals suspended overhead. Accompanied by an unapologetic LED totem built on the back wall from our own hand-soldered, programmable circuits, broadcasting in full force.
Every light we make starts at zero, built by hand and with a lot of thought and intention. So getting to watch people move through it, inhabit it, and light up with it really makes this stuff worth while for us.
That one was a level up, plenty more to come…

Music: Forthcoming Time Flies 001
As we continue to grow and evolve our designs for Loud Places 2026, the Rotunda remains the anchor of our design approach.
Set deep within the woodland, it rises from a naturally formed dancefloor - bespoke timber squares stacked with purpose; their boxy geometry cuts clean lines through the trees.
Wrapped and fitted with programmable LEDs and faced with opaque correx lenses, the structure catches and bends light by day and glows by night. The idea is to be subtly reflective, both in material and in spirit.
A deliberate contrast of form and forest, the Rotunda mirrors its surroundings while standing confidently apart in its own right.

As we approach our next congregation w/ @janefitzislost , we’re excited to reveal our latest installation.
Ceiling portals and an LED totem will be complementing the sonic offerings from Jane.
Designed by our own @blason___ through his @takingshape__ output with @hazy.jake - the space will once again be transformed into something entirely new.

Finley ( @blason___ ) will be closing out the evening on Thursday, a man of many talents and a long-time record collector with a bag of obscure house, minimal, prog and techno.
Away from the booth, Fin co-runs ‘Taking Shape’, the creative project behind the construction of two stages and various installations at Loud Places Festival last summer.
He is a familiar face in both Nottingham and Manchester, through his involvement in respected parties ‘Bite Back’ and ‘Time Flies’. Time Flies will be heading out to Tisno, Croatia in July after receiving a well-deserved call up from Love International Festival.
