Long time, no post🎥. I have been locked in, creating some amazing work, finally ready to share them all, one post at a time. Earlier this year, I got the chance to work on something truly meaningful, a documentary that tells the story of how people in remote parts of Nigeria are finally getting access to reliable, sustainable power through the Nigerian Electrification Program. Being part of a project that highlights real change in real communities is always an experience. At the beginning of the year, while setting my goals and resolutions, I made a clear decision, to start sharing my knowledge and skills in filmmaking specifically video editing. Before now, I had only taken on a few one-on-one classes, nothing with a larger audience. I hadn’t even started planning anything when I got a text from Dabest asking if I’d like to be part of this year’s Shoot. Edit. Repeat. It was a no brainer and I’m genuinely glad I said yes. Thank you for having me @oluwadabest 🙏🏽 With that said, allow me to reintroduce myself as this being my first post of the year. My name is Samson Favour, I’m a filmmaker majored in Video Editing and I tell stories that matter. Last year was deeply rewarding, worked on documentaries, TV commercials, and collaborations that challenged and shaped how I see my work today. This year, I’m stepping into new chapters, as a filmmaker and a businessman (more tea on this soon 😅). Grateful for the growth so far. Excited for what’s ahead.

This one feels different, in the best way possible. First birthday shoot ever and honestly, it feels like the perfect time to start documenting this version of me. I’ve spent the last few years figuring things out, from career, faith, love, family, friendships. It hasn’t all been smooth, but every part of the journey has shaped this calm confidence I now walk in. Somewhere between the pressure and the prayers, I started to understand grace differently, not just as what saves you, but what sustains you. This year, I’m building, I’m present, and I’m happy. Here’s to 25. 📸 @thelightuser ✂️ @ashaneofficial

We travelled to tell the stories of different cultures, places, people and things. To learn, to share, and to keep those memories alive through film. Thank you @bishopikeh for the edit✨✨

It was our last day in Kano after wrapping up a beautiful documentary (which I can’t wait to share with you soon). With a few extra hours before our flight back to Lagos, we decided to tell one more story. As we moved around the city, we met a man named Salihu Muhammad Bello who sells tea for a living. Through him, we learned that about 90% of Hausa people drink tea daily — not just as a habit, but as part of their lifestyle. We spoke with Salihu Muhammad Bello, and he shared fascinating insights about the role tea plays in their day-to-day lives — from energy to connection. Have you ever thought about how something as simple as tea could be such a powerful part of a culture? What does tea (or any small ritual) mean to you?
