I’m excited to announce my first solo record,
‘No Sound In Space’, coming out November 15th via KMRU’s new OFNOT imprint. @_kamaru_@ofnot___
I’ve been working on these compositions over the past couple years, creating sonic worlds for escapism, experimenting while finding comfort and solace in isolation, outside expectations and formal structure. The creative process primarily involved recording and layering live improvisational takes, and surrendering to those moments of inspiration and sincerity. When you’re being true to yourself, it feels like the decisions get made on their own.
NSIS Vinyl LPs are available for Pre-order via Bandcamp, with the first track ‘Miura’ featuring KMRU streaming now on digital platforms. Link in bio
I am also excited to share with you my directorial and scoring debut shot on 35mm film coming very soon.

#dop Aislyn Murray (@aj.murray ) & #director Blake Lee (@blake_lee ) take us #behindthescenes of NO SOUND IN SPACE | 250D & 500T 35mm.
Aislyn begins:
“As the cinematographer for this project, it was important for me to be aware of the visuals needing to serve the score. Blake is an extremely emotive musician, so that gave me the space to come up with intentional ideas that pay homage to our favorite works. The tangible element of film, married with the classic look of Primo Primes, was needed to express what we were both going for. I wouldn’t have chosen any other pairing for a film like this. My Panavision family custom machined a lens for us, which shows their dedication to serving the arts. Special thanks to Rik DeLisle and Ye Kim at #panavision.”
Blake continues:
“It was always my intention to shoot NSIS on 35mm film. I was chasing this feeling of timelessness, nostalgia, and futurism to create a specific world for my score and sound design to live in. I’ve always been influenced and inspired by Kubrick and the emotion that comes from the powerful marriage of sound and picture, a la 2OO1: A Space Odyssey. There’s a richness and depth that only film can deliver, especially translating the color red, and the amount of texture that we needed to contrast the minimalism of the void. It was very important to my DP and I to shoot everything in-camera and stay true to the approach of the ‘60s and ‘70s.”

An endless thank you to @_kamaru_ for believing in me. I hope it finds you well
I learned so much about myself in this process and the need to ‘get out of your own way’ to capture the moments of inspiration, and a desire to chase those experiences I have when absorbing my favorite art. I’ve always wanted to release music but never liked the idea of being put in a box. true Pisces. I resonate with the reality of multiple takeaways and revisitation that comes with the nature of ambiguity. It wasn’t an intention, but the art I gravitate towards allows the listener or viewer to bring their own emotions and perceptions to the table, and I find that extremely valuable. Sometimes it felt like throwing paint against a canvas and either letting everything stick, or subtracting it down to a more minimal form that gets the same emotion across. Atmosphere is everything. Sending Love
