And the award for most discomfiting artwork of ’26 so far goes to Neue Deutsch Kunst, whose music is perhaps less grotesque but also dead fucking weird. Maybe all to be expected on Black To Comm’s ever perplexing Cellule 75 label. Bruce Gilden, eat your heart out.
‘Keine Nichtmusik’ appears to be the first musical release by a visual artist with credits to their name on Black To Comm and DJ Hell albums in the past 12 months. Beyond that, we know zip about their background, but an inkling points to the involvement of Marc Richter in its properly uncanny, theatric arrangements of German leider and poetry with amorphous plunderphonic backdrops.
It will arguably take a bold pair of ears to really get a grasp on this one, ranging from a 16 minute opener of dadaist dramaturgy, to a whole other dozen parts that hardly let up on the surrealistic hi-jinx, from the stark art-pop of its titular parts to 10 mins of Faustian clangour, pomp and left turns on ‘Hugs & Kisses’, or the prog intricacies to ‘Gewalt, Herrschaft, Macht, Dominanz’.
OK there’s a few kinda straight played parts in the relative normality of the operatic ‘Röntgenstrahlen’ and acoustic guitar gilded romance of ‘Flieg, du Mensch, flieg (Version 2)’, but be warned this one’s frankly, really odd.

Der Hamburger Künstler und Musiker Marc Richter (aka Black To Comm / Neue Deutsche Kunst) verbindet experimentelle Elektronik mit surrealer Bildwelt.
Er hat rund 20 Alben veröffentlicht, komponiert Soundtracks und produziert Installationen für u. a. ZKM und INA/GRM.
Beim REM Festival zeigt er ein Live-Set als Black To Comm und präsentiert seinen neuen Film „Frei wie eine Kaugummi-Cloud“ – ein surrealer Kurzfilm voller hybrider Kreaturen, KI-generierter Texte und weirder Musik zwischen Schlager, Dada und Neuer Deutscher Welle.

"Kopf" is based on just one single picture "enhanced" multiple times by Photoshop's Generative Fill function. When given free reign (no prompts for the most part) the software creates the most uncanny, weird and unexpected mutant creatures and backgrounds (the odd human and animal as well). The results were then refined, animated and soundtracked.
