🖤🦇🍻SABBATH MILD🍻🦇🖤 . When @pigsearsbeerltd got in touch with the bonkers idea of commissioning 7 collab milds to launch in May, we honestly couldn’t resist!! Especially when we got to collab with the incredible @abyssbrewing and theme the beer on Black Fucking Sabbath!!! 🤘🦇🖤 . For this beer we put together a deliciously complex malt base, Munich malt for a base nuttiness, torrified wheat for head retention, dextrin malt for body and two different crystal malts for deep colour and caramel sweetness. We used only English whole leaf hops in the boil, Challenger and Bramling Cross for those spicy notes and hedgerow berry flavours. All fermented with a high ester yeast. Nostalgia awaits those that imbibe. 💚🍻🤘 . Some classic font driven design work from the other Prince of Darkness @kev_grey this beer is mainly available through @pigsearsbeerltd but a very small amount of stock will be in tomorrow’s mailer in 9G cask and 20L keykeg. To get me hyped up for @desertfest_london next weekend, I’m spinning my brand new 20th Anniversary rerelease of Age Of Winters by @theswordofficial ⚔️💙🌬️ . The Sword are one of my absolute favourite bands, a band I thought I’d never see live. So when I saw them on the line up for Desertfest this year I was beyond ecstatic!! So many riffs, so much chug, some phenomenal guitar work, this album is a stone cold classic. Last month we had the pleasure of having Tom and his wife Alice down from @dinofcelestialbirdsmusic down to brew up super tart, modern sour. Introducing This Transient Zing 6.0% Raspberry Coconut Sour 💖🥥🍻 . @dinofcelestialbirdsmusic have been on heavy rotation on the Black Iris playlist since discovering them a few years ago. It was amazing to see them at @damnationfestival last year with an unbelievable set of blasting post rock!! 🤘 🍻⚡️ . For the beer, we have jam packed this beer full of delicious zingy raspberry. This is a full on sour, proper jawbreaker territory, high acidity and clean juiciness. The coconut adds a roundness to the body and tropical dynamic that builds as you drink through the beer. 🐺🤘🍻BIG BAD WOLF🍻🤘🐺 . Right then, it’s the start of a new month so let’s get cracking introducing you to all our new beers for May!! So let’s kick things off with the Big Bad Wolf 6.0% Cask NEIPA!!! 🐺🤘🍻 . When we went down to brew with @radiocitybw for their 7th birthday we had such a bloody good time that we wasted no time in getting them straight back up to brew with us!!! It was great to hang out with Dan And Ryan and show them so of the best pubs this city has to offer. 🍻🤘⚡️ . So for this beer, we thrown the kitchen sink at it!! Low colour malt and plenty of oats and wheat come together for a vibrant yellow pint of pillowy softness. With El Dorado in the boil for bitterness, we then went to town with Mosaic Cryo from @yakimachief and Eggers Special from @eggershops at pitch, followed up with more Eggers Special and Azzaca in conditioning. All wrapped up with London Fog yeast. Big esters, big tropical fruit, juicy as they come!! And in a fucking cask!! 💚🤘🐺🍻 . Our original brewday down in Chelmsford culminated in a great gig at @radiocitysocial watching the magnificent @wolfbastard_official which inspired the name. So whatever your plans are, whether your coming down to our lovely Basford oasis for beer or too or heading down to the @castlebeerfestival you be sure we’ve got a delicious beer with your name on it!! ☀️🍻🖤 . And this is the kinda beer that this weather demands. Mojave Nights is a 4.2% America Pale Ale inspired by a series of gigs called Live In The Mojave Desert that were filmed in California in a natural desert amphitheater at sunset. The became something that the team at Black Iris really looked forward to during covid and featured some of my favourite bands. 🏜️🍻🤘 . This beer is packed full of those classic American C hops that bring all those lemon, pine, slightly grassy notes. Columbus, Chinook, Cascade and Centennial in the boil develop that thirst quenching bitterness that keeps you coming back with even more Cascade and Chinnok in conditioning. A super clean malt bill adds a touch of honeyed sweetness and a great yellow colour. 💛🌵🍻 . With some far out artwork from @kev_grey this is a beer for the weekend. 🖤🍻🏙️SIGNUM🏙️🍻🖤 . In relatively typical Black Iris, we are very behind with our socials! So let’s put that right and introduce our latest Black IPA, Signum 5.0%!! 🏙️🖤🍻 . Last month, it was our pleasure to invite Edinburgh’s finest, @codespeaker down to Nottingham to brew up a tasty collab. We first met the lovely lads from Codespeaker while they were mid tour with @hundredyearoldman last year and we’ve be keen to get them down ever since. Playing the kind of crushing post-metal that has come to dominate my recent playlists, it was great to see them live last year at @billybootleggersnottingham for a packed out show. 🤘🖤🍻 . For this beer, we’ve returned to one of our favourite styles here at Black Iris, the Black IPA. For me, there is no other beer style that encapsulates the kind of freedom and quest for innovation that thrived in the beer scene around 2014-18. We focused on pushing the initial pine bitterness in this beer with Cascade and Simcoe whole leaf in the boil, in good numbers to counteract the mat sweetness, while finishing El Dorado and Idaho 7 at pitch. The whole thing comes together with Strata T90 in conditioning. Chocolate, pine, orange, whilst all at a smashable 5% for extra drinkability. 🌲🍊🤘🍻 . With some stark, brutalist artwork from comrade @kev_grey this beer has been flying out the brewery so far. Still available in 30L keykeg and 440ml cans.
