Last month, it was our pleasure to invite Edinburgh’s finest,
@codespeaker down to Nottingham to brew up a tasty collab. We first met the lovely lads from Codespeaker while they were mid tour with
@hundredyearoldman last year and we’ve be keen to get them down ever since. Playing the kind of crushing post-metal that has come to dominate my recent playlists, it was great to see them live last year at
@billybootleggersnottingham for a packed out show. 🤘🖤🍻

For this beer, we’ve returned to one of our favourite styles here at Black Iris, the Black IPA. For me, there is no other beer style that encapsulates the kind of freedom and quest for innovation that thrived in the beer scene around 2014-18. We focused on pushing the initial pine bitterness in this beer with Cascade and Simcoe whole leaf in the boil, in good numbers to counteract the mat sweetness, while finishing El Dorado and Idaho 7 at pitch. The whole thing comes together with Strata T90 in conditioning. Chocolate, pine, orange, whilst all at a smashable 5% for extra drinkability. 🌲🍊🤘🍻
