All the history that a small/few people with limited worldviews - compared to the rich history, realities and possible futures or our people, of our global web - all that history and magic they try to erase has us working to remember what has already been paved and paid for for us: that taking care of ourselves and each other is deliberate/unapologetic/resistance. Many before us, especially in the African diaspora, created containers of belonging for struggle to know it could never in humanity exist without joy, without freedom, without love. Care & joy is resistance when we name and not ignore the truths of what we face and we make more space for the fullness of our peoples, ourselves and our medicines to come to light. When we bring the whole of ourselves to meet the times, cycles break, angels celebrate. 101 Black people breathing, moving & imagining together. Part of a weaving thread of a movement nourished. Part of a greater web of all movements of our peoples across time and space. I still insisted on going around to personally check in with every single person before we practiced lol. gratitude @bepraska @lululemon @shannonlembeck @isabellameno_ @bl.wrk for your time, listening, collaboration, & understanding. I missed two months of this series after just getting it started. I felt guilt and embarrassment. The easiest route was to just archive the first post and pretend it never happened. But I can’t do that. A big point of this was to show myself I can commit to something and see it through even when I miss or make mistakes.
