almost two years ago this idea was just us sitting in a festival screening itching to make the next thing, errant text messages about character desires, an ebo taylor song that made me dust off ableton and make a beat, long conversations about death/motivation and 50+ hand drawn shots. i’m proud this was our next thing.

Réal [@bittertoejam ]: Réal is a Bajan-American Director of Photography born and raised in New York City. His upbringing split between a color soaked island and navigating a bustling city has finely tuned his eye towards finding truth in the juxtaposed themes of a story and its characters. Through these means is how his lens finds the heart of a film’s subject(s). Réal’s tastes trend toward surrealism, family oriented stories and dramatic humor. As a Director of Photography his goal is always to bring the inner worlds of his collaborators to the optical realm through an emotive synthesis of color, composition and lighting. When he isn’t focused on filmmaking his other creative pursuits include poetry, street photography and writing short stories. Réal has lended his technical expertise to a myriad of projects with mediums ranging from celluloid, tape based and modern digital filmmaking. Much like the fiction novels that’ve been a substantial influence throughout his life, Réal weaves dense imagery together to supplement his world building no matter his tool of choice.
