Singer-songwriter Naaz celebrated the release of her new album The Sky Knows I Exist on Friday, May 15. Through her music, she explored themes such as identity, freedom, and self-determination, wrapped in a layered and emotionally powerful sound. The support act was hosted by Maya Maria, an interdisciplinary artist who moves between alt-R&B and art pop.

Last month, we had the pleasure of hosting @dutch_music_export for an inspiring trade mission to Paris. A talented group of Dutch music industry professionals, artists, and representatives came together at the Atelier Néerlandais for a curated program of networking sessions, roundtables, and company visits.
The highlight of the mission was the Dutch Impact Showcase at @pointephemere : an unforgettable evening of live performances by the exceptional @minxtaka , @bitsofnaaz , and @davinamichelleofficial .

Dit nieuwe album "the sky knows i exist" is op alle fronten een enorme ontwikkeling. Naaz werd al vergeleken met Lorde en Tove Lo, het haar eigenzinnige Koerdische saus. Die saus is nu iets minder aanwezig maar vervangen voor nog meer dikke producties, stevige gitaren, verrassende composities en vocale hoogtepunten. Ik hoor Olivia Rodrigo in Cold en Bark, maar ook Kate Bush in I Get Tired So Fast. Bovenal hoor je Naaz.

“The Sky Knows I Exist” feels like a massive leap forward in every possible way. Naaz was already being compared to artists like Lorde and Tove Lo, filtered through her own unique Kurdish perspective. That influence feels a little less pronounced here, replaced by bigger productions, heavier guitars, adventurous compositions and some stunning vocal moments. I hear flashes of Olivia Rodrigo in “Cold” and “Bark”, and even hints of Kate Bush in “I Get Tired So Fast”. Above all, though, you hear Naaz herself.
