Dear all, we want to thank you one last time for joining us. Whether it was by donation, your presence, or both; you’ve made a difference. Not only did we raise a lot of money, we showed that a lot can be accomplished by forming community, speaking up and sharing stories. If you want to keep supporting the Lebanese people, Next time you go out for dinner, maybe consider a Lebanese restaurant. Look up Lebanese businesses, follow Lebanese creators! I can assure you, they are all working tirelessly to support their families. Having said that, we want to say an extra special thank you to @zaytenzaatar who made 130 FREE meals for us. Incredible. Deen Groothuizen (die/diens/hij/hem) is cultureel antropoloog en werkt aan digitale inclusie in de bibliotheek. Als Rotterdammer zet die zich met liefde en humor in op verschillende manieren als presentator, moderator en dagvoorzitter en zet zich in voor een dekoloniale wereld.

The coolest DJ collective in town will be joining us!! ZINARADIO is an independent platform amplifying music, artists, DJs, and cultural movements from West Asia, North Africa, and its diaspora. Through radio, events, mixtapes, and curated activations, ZINARADIO bridges WANA sounds with global club culture, foregrounding context, community, and ethical storytelling.

@rrroufaida is also joining us! 🫶🫶🫶 May 11th @maaspodium Roufaida will perform a few songs for our fundraiser- RSVP only! There are limited tickets, so don’t miss out! RSVP through link in bio ❤️ Boundary-pushing, poetic, and activist – Roufaida is an artist whose work reflects her evolving perspective and commitment to exploring new ideas. Drawing from her North-African heritage, she combines unconventional melodies with metaphorical songwriting shaped by Arabic poetry and the realities of today’s world. Influenced by innovative artists like Rosalía, Björk, and Arooj Aftab, Dutch-Moroccan Roufaida honors multiple traditions while creatively expanding upon them. October 10th, she released her debut album Coming Up For Air. Roufaida’s breakthrough came with the release of the Roufaida EP in 2023, featuring standout tracks like Don’t Bend, showcasing the deep tones of the Moroccan guembri, and Kalimat, inspired by a poem by Syrian poet Nizar Qabbani. The EP gained international airplay and brought her to stages across the Benelux, Germany, and Morocco, with performances at festivals such as Down The Rabbit Hole, Lowlands, Into The Great Wide Open, and Noorderslag. She has shared the stage with artists like Xavier Rudd, Balthazar, Melody Gardot, and Eefje de Visser. Praised for its distinctive sound, the EP earned two nominations for the prestigious Edison Awards. Critics have hailed Roufaida as “a true discovery” (De Volkskrant), applauded her fusion of North-African influences with alternative pop (NRC), and recognized “Don’t Bend” as “the coolest groove of the year” (Humo).

Omg! @bitsofnaaz is coming ✨✨✨ May 11th @maaspodium for our fundraiser she’ll perform a few songs in an acoustic setting. RSVP only! And there’s limited Seats. RSVP through link in bio (: Naaz is a Dutch-Kurdish singer, producer and writer from the Netherlands. Growing up in a refugee household, she found escape in songwriting from an early age, many of those lyrics now tattooed on her body as symbols of freedom. Entirely self-taught in writing, producing and composing, she released her debut project Bits of Naaz from her bedroom and has since toured Europe four times, becoming known for her powerful live vocals and cathartic performances. With her unique blend of English and Kurdish music, Naaz earned praise from artists such as Elton John and Lana Del Rey. She independently released her highly acclaimed debut album Never Have I Ever, marking both an artistic and personal rebirth. Her first Kurdish alt-pop single Azadi became an activist anthem for women’s rights worldwide, particularly within the MENA diaspora, affirming the power of her outspoken voice in music. Alongside her musical work, Naaz moves fluidly between disciplines. She composed for Amsterdam-based theatre company Orkater and was cast in a leading role in an opera for the Holland Festival. She is currently writing her debut novel. These experiences across music, theatre and literature have shaped her instinct for storytelling and emotional pacing, giving her work an intimate and honest perspective. Naaz now releases her sophomore record, an indie folk rock album inspired by the idea the sky knows I exist and therefore I am. ‘The Sky Knows I Exist’ is a record about belonging, late beginnings, and choosing yourself anyway.

Met trots kondigen wij @benzokarim_ aan als tweede naam van de line-up. Make sure to RSVP!! Limited Seats beschikbaar en het gaat hard 💕 Benzokarim (1996) is dichter en performer en sinds 2025 stadsdichter van Rotterdam. Karim heeft een thuis gevonden in zowel het gesproken als het geschreven woord. Op 18 november 2022 debuteerde Karim met El Ghorba, een bundel waarin gesprekken met zijn vader - en het herdenken van zijn moeder - centraal staan. Hetzelfde jaar won hij de El Hizjra literatuurprijs voor poëzie. Op 20 mei 2025 verscheen zijn tweede bundel Ons gaan allemaal, die werd bekroond met de Jan Campertprijs en de Granateprijs. Benzokarim maakte eerder verschillende poëtische voorstellingen, die hij onder andere in Zuid-Afrika opvoerde. Ook trad hij op tijdens verschillende literaire festivals, zoals Lowlands, Crossing Border, Read My World, Poetry International, de Nacht van de Poëzie en het Boekenbal. Daarnaast heeft hij een interesse in crossmediale projecten. Voor de bundel El Ghorba maakte hij een korte poëtische documentaire, en voor de bundel Ons gaan allemaal creëerde hij samen met Mourah Sakr een videoserie en een eenmalige expositie.

Habibis! Met trots kondigen wij aan dat The Space Choir op 11 mei komt optreden!!! Op 11 mei organiseren wij samen met @maaspodium een fundraiser voor Libanon. We hebben een programma met live muziek, DJ’s, eten en een bazaar. Reserveer snel je plek via de Maaspodium website (gratis entree). Alle opbrengsten van de dag zullen naar goede doelen gaan. Wie zijn die goede doelen? We hebben gekozen voor lokale helden zowel in Beirut als verder in het zuiden van Libanon. We hebben de volgende organisaties gekozen: Humans of Dahieh Beit aam Juzur initiative Met The Space Choir waait er een nieuwe wind door het Nederlandse koorlandschap. Van twintigers tot pensionado’s, de queer gemeenschap, ervaren óf onervaren vocalisten, iedereen groovet mee! Toen de Australische superster Troye Sivan een filmpje van hen deelde, dook de Nederlandse media erop: van Het Parool tot Hart van Nederland, van 3fm tot Editie NL. Sindsdien gaan ze hard: zo waren ze bijvoorbeeld in de running voor Holland’s Got Talent en speelden in een uitverkochte De Doelen en Melkweg. Met popnummers als Daisies (Justin Bieber), Bodyguard (Beyoncé) en Back on 74 (Jungle) laten ze het publiek dansen, lachen, zingen en huilen.
