Come get tattooed with me in Stirchley 🖤
*warning: needles*
Decided I needed to feel something this week and being that my ears are now 90% piercings I chose to get tattooed instead… and therapy is expensive these days.. 😅
I met @nathan.locoamortattoo from @locoamor_tattoostudios by accident in a pub last month ago. He was very excited about eating a hot dog and I knew instantly we would be friends 😂
Flash forward a few weeks and here I am in Stirchley. He’s eating pizza this time btw 👋🏼 I’d sent Nath some ideas (utter millennial nonsense of fine line moons - he usually does huge sleeves, poor bloke must’ve been devastated to see my little stars pop up) and he’s tweaking them ready for inking. We chat a lot of shit, have a rant about politics and then get cracking.
First up is my moon phase tattoo, something I’ve wanted for ages that was pushed forward by watching the latest NASA mission. The moon is a She btw, there’s no way something that phenomenal in all phases is a He 😂
Next up is a star, moon and sun design on the back of my arm. This was somehow not remotely painful finally allowing me to use the old “licked on by kittens” reference (name that TV show for 5 points..)
Big up Nathan for being a good sport. You can find his studio (probably the only one to have its own vitamin boost shots, fancy pants) on Stirchley High Street 💋
ad/client | Lunchtime bargains don’t come much spicier than this 😍 Tamatanga’s meal deals are spot on if you’re looking for a hearty munch at home.
Right now on Deliveroo you can get a set meal for one for under twenty quid that includes a curry, your choice of side and a drink. They also have some delicious wraps and sides if you’re after something lighter for lunch.

Bring back proper cafs 💪🏼
Where a meal costs less than a tenner and every cup of tea is the colour of He-Man. Where chips are served at breakfast and taste like 1994. Where salad simply does not exist.
If you’re a fan of the above, you’ll probably like Reservoir Cafe on the road leading up to the main entrance to Edgbaston Reservoir.
No frills, no fuss, quick and easy breakfast and lunch. Open every day except Sundays ✌🏼

Edgbaston Reservoir in spring is one of my favourite places in the city.
This season always makes everything pop, making it one of the prettiest walks in Brum.
Great for sunny picnics, bike rides, long walks and forgetting your in the middle of the city.

There’s a little takeaway near my flat that’s been knocking out African Caribbean food for over 25 years - say hello to Granny’s in Ladywood.
The menu changes depending on what chef is cooking with whatever’s available chalked up on a blackboard. When I popped in most recently there was no jerk chicken (some of the best I’ve had) but they did have the curried goat. Also banging, although could’ve had a bit more sauce. I’m all about it being saucy. This was a medium portion which at £10 is pretty decent.
The place is no frills and no fuss. It’s about cooking for the community. They’re been feeding this much shat on area of the city for over two decades now without much fanfare, so I just wanted to shout them out here 🖤
You can find it on Vincent Street West and it’s open 7 days, although the days and times do seem to depend on who is working ✌🏼 Minimal inside seating, best for grab and go.

Bluebell trails at Lickey Hills 💜
We all know I love spring anyway but fuck me do I love seeing these beauties. It’s insanely pretty up The Lickeys at the moment, with blankets of bluebells covering much of the woodland.
They won’t be around for much longer so if you want to enjoy them get up there asap. I found the best spots were in the shadier parts in the woods, rather than at the top or by the visitors centre.

Find someone who looks at you the way I look at the @purecraftbarandkitchen giant mozzarella stick after 4 pints and an afternoon in the sunshine 😍 (sorry about the noises…) #throwbackthursday
