What a crazy night of RockNRoll - this time with
@seanmcd07 I usually don’t catch openers but we got up to DTLA so fast, we even had a chance to grab a
@gloryburgersla and got a parking spot across the street that wasn’t a gouge. First up was
@rauemusic - a 2 piece band (drums, guitars, vocals and 20 year old energy) I am already tracking a couple of songs I dig: KARMA, ESCAPE & COME AROUND. We watched from the balcony as they had the un daunting challenge of filling 40 minutes before the headliner
@biffy_clyro open a cache of smaller dates in the U.S. They did just fine - give them a whirl on whatever platform you digest your music.
This was the first time that I had seen Biffy with 5 members - for whatever reason they haven’t cracked the U.S. code of playing bigger venues - selfishly I am ok with that - I get to see them in smaller venues while they are reserved for “bigger font” festival line ups in the Europe where their audience is 30-70k deep. Being the first show in the states I felt that the were working out the kinks (plus a player temporarily out of the line up) and a unique stage set up - made for an ebb and flow of hits and other songs that I haven’t seen live before. Simon is clearly a master of stage presence and honestly I can’t see how he doesn’t destroy his strings (he must be playing heavy gauge) enough nerd talk. Sean disappeared and came back with a signed poster, T-shirt & sticker. Overall a fantastic night out of making memories - plus a couple stealth hellos exchanged with guitarist
@addostruts from
@thestruts rounded off the night. If this mini tour is in your calendar - be sure to get there early as I have a feeling they also won’t be playing smaller venues much longer. Get out and support LIVE MUSIC
