Wow - what an event! This time Legendary OC Punk Rock band @socialdistortion cracked the building foundation @fingerprintsmusic Long Beach yesterday This first share will be an appreciation post and hopefully some pictures I took of the band will be blessed for later Socials. For 25 years - I have done marketing, promotions and events and I felt like this was one of the best. It came on the heels of the band’s release “Born to Kill” and fresh in the middle of a mini tour before the bigger gigs later in the year. Hats off to Rand and his staff for hosting such a fun gig. It started with a 6 song set + some extra jams & then a meet & greet with the band. I saw some OG Social D crew and some wide eyed youngsters getting their albums or CD’s signed. There really is nothing better than seeing a Dad with his son or daughter with the biggest smile on their face - you can’t fake that - hell that was me 15 years ago and a reason I still go back. So in the age of instant gratification - go old skool and get down to your favorite record store and give this one a listen - while of course mine is Fingerprints - but just for reference I grew up going through stax of vinyl at Rainy Day Records in Olympia. #SocialDistortion #BornToKill

NIGHTY NIGHT How can I sleep after this crazy jam?? It was a mix of Surf Rock, RnR “Side Projects”, A Body Pass, a mid-song drum kit adjustment, a “mosh swirl” and bunch of musician friends having fun on stage and off. What a crazy night of RockNRoll - this time with @seanmcd07 I usually don’t catch openers but we got up to DTLA so fast, we even had a chance to grab a @gloryburgersla and got a parking spot across the street that wasn’t a gouge. First up was @rauemusic - a 2 piece band (drums, guitars, vocals and 20 year old energy) I am already tracking a couple of songs I dig: KARMA, ESCAPE & COME AROUND. We watched from the balcony as they had the un daunting challenge of filling 40 minutes before the headliner @biffy_clyro open a cache of smaller dates in the U.S. They did just fine - give them a whirl on whatever platform you digest your music. This was the first time that I had seen Biffy with 5 members - for whatever reason they haven’t cracked the U.S. code of playing bigger venues - selfishly I am ok with that - I get to see them in smaller venues while they are reserved for “bigger font” festival line ups in the Europe where their audience is 30-70k deep. Being the first show in the states I felt that the were working out the kinks (plus a player temporarily out of the line up) and a unique stage set up - made for an ebb and flow of hits and other songs that I haven’t seen live before. Simon is clearly a master of stage presence and honestly I can’t see how he doesn’t destroy his strings (he must be playing heavy gauge) enough nerd talk. Sean disappeared and came back with a signed poster, T-shirt & sticker. Overall a fantastic night out of making memories - plus a couple stealth hellos exchanged with guitarist @addostruts from @thestruts rounded off the night. If this mini tour is in your calendar - be sure to get there early as I have a feeling they also won’t be playing smaller venues much longer. Get out and support LIVE MUSIC #futiquetour2026

But like Father, like Daughter only 15 years later @viioletgrohl took the stage and slayed out a 7 song set @fingerprintsmusic The staff, the fans, some new friends and old telling great stories of Rock N Roll - her album comes out May 29th but this sneak peak was all I needed to hear. Got a little later start than I wanted @sabrinamcd07 had her Spring Break earlier so we had a mini meetup - I usually have her pick the playlist for the drive but this time I dusted off a few classics - turns out there is more than one great song from this band and it fits how I feel after this trip. Started with a bite to eat @settebellooxnard then a random @bowlerobowl game where she mopped the floor and beat me (the blue lights allegedly affected my game) and of course a trip without thrifting isn’t really a trip - enjoy the candy Sab and try not to eat it all in one sitting Happy Easter ✌️🐣✌️

Another magical Friday night at @fingerprintsmusic with some old and hopefully new friends. I have watched @glenhansard play for so many years - he is probably most famous for the movie ONCE that earned him an Oscar for his song “Falling Slowly” but his resume of singing partners leaves no reason for why he is revered by the likes of Bono and Eddie Vedder. So there he played on a stage by himself with just a guitar and his beautiful voice - I have to imagine that there can be nothing better than being in a small room where you can connect with every fan and see in their eyes how much your music means to them. With the stories I heard in line from fans it was nothing short of pure gratitude. He listened and when someone shared their previous meeting he laughed and with genuine conviction said - I remember that. He even had an impromptu friend @murdomitchell join for a song - look him up - he will be “flying high” soon. For the staff at Fingerprints - you ran this event with style and grace and continue to provide a place that whatever is going on in the outside world - you can come search for a record or listen and SUPPORT LIVE MUSIC!! Something bittersweet of driving back up the coast to drop off @sabrinamcd07 after her early Spring Break - I love her spontaneity. We snuck in a Dirtbags game (got on the not so Jumbotron) then got up at the crack of dawn & did the line drop at Disneyland - we got on almost every big ride 2 or 3 times - got Main Street Corn Dog (IYKYK) first time in Star Wars land for me, even getting soaked on Tiana’s Bayou couldn’t slow us down - actually it almost did. Then stayed until closing. My heart is full and my feet are sore - until next time my little coaster queen
