INTRODUCING REFUGIST MAGAZINE
The world has seen refugee stories but rarely have we seen refugee voices, their creativity, vision and talent take center stage. Refugist Magazine is here to change that.
Through fashion, art, culture and storytelling, we give refugee and displaced youth a platform to showcase their talent, reclaim their identities and redefine the narrative. This is more than a magazine, it’s a movement celebrating creativity, resilience and the next generation of innovators.
Follow us, share our story and watch out for our first issue dropping soon. A celebration of voices the world hasn’t seen yet.

After our last mentorship session with the girls in kakuma, I visited REF FM radio station for an empowerment program in kalobeyei settlement. While I was there, I heard some truly heartbreaking stories of women in a reception center. Many of them are forced to isolate themselves during their periods due to a lack of sanitary pads. Some, tragically, even resort to selling their bodies just to afford basic menstrual products.
Deeply moved by what I heard, I reached out to some friends, and together we were able to bring a bit of relief and put smiles on the faces of these women. A huge thank you to Awuoi Mach and all the incredible women who were touched by these stories and stepped up to help.
This experience opened my eyes to just how many women might be willing to share their menstrual products with those in need whether in reception centers or refugee camps. I’m now considering starting a GoFundMe to help gather donations and support for this cause, so that no woman has to suffer in silence or be forced to make painful choices just to manage her period.
For too many refugee girls, a lack of sanitary towels means missed school, shame, and silence. Behind every skipped day is a struggle no one sees,a fight for dignity, for freedom, for peace of mind. These girls don’t just need pads ,they need mentorship, guidance, and someone to remind them that their well-being and mental health matter too. The current, rapidly increasing crisis doesn’t mean their mental and emotional world pauses; if anything, it needs more care than ever. By stepping in, we can help them step free. Join us at @refugee_teenstalk .Stand with refugee girls. And to all donors and partners, your support can light the way. Walk with us, and help rewrite their story.
Together we are stepping free💙

Today we marched because silence is no longer an option. Gender-based violence has been tearing through our community and it has cost a woman her life. We showed up, we stood together and we spoke with one voice: Stepping Free. Enough is enough. Together we say no more. Together we end the violence.
