Today‘s post might be a little bit controversial and I have been debating with myself, if I should publish it at all. Those are Dieter TP-1 keycaps on a „Rock“ TDK Cycle 8. They are meant to be an Hommage to Dieter Rams, a German designer and artist who gave form to quite a number of iconic products, I grew up with, mostly for the „Braun“ company. They have a unique uniform design (which means all rows share the same sculpt) and were manufactured by
@keyreative_keycaps . They have a surface, that is a little bit rough, which makes them very comfy to type on.
@biipmk did help with the design, which is also a big plus.
They were made by
@geistmaschine and here is, where things get a little bit rough. The keycaps ran as a group buy which has been delayed. In fact, by the time of writing this, the Geistmaschine web shop still said „Early September [2025]“.
While this can happen to other group buys, too (and has happened), at some point, Geistmaschine cut off all communications, even mails I sent to them returned with „account does not exist“.
Another issue - that a lot of other keycaps projects are also riddled with: the Orange is way brighter than the renders on the Geistmaschine webpage shop suggest. Don‘t get me wrong: I love the bright Orange and it suites the set, but I can understand, that some people will not like that kind of surprise.
So while I love the caps and their look and their quality, I‘d discourage buying the caps from Geistmaschine, because, if something should go wrong, the only way to get into contact with them seems to be letter mail (which I actually did at some point).
