In New York, for the third year in a row, we are very close to passing the country’s strongest plastic reduction law. The plastics and petrochemical industries are spending millions on lobbyists to prevent the bill from passing (you might have seen their ads as well). There are more of us than there are of them, but we need your help. Join us Monday, May 11 in Albany for an advocacy day in support of the Packaging Reduction and Recycling Infrastructure Act, Assembly bill 1749A / Senate bill 1464A. Register at BeyondPlastics.org and click on events. People vs. Plastic May the people win #toxicplastic #plasticpollution

NY is drowning in single-use plastic packaging. Join us in Albany on Monday, May 11 to pass the critical, groundbreaking Packaging Reduction & Recycling Infrastructure Act and Bigger Better Bottle Bill to cut down on single-use plastic packaging and make polluters pay to clean up their mess! This bill passed the senate twice already. RSVP now to tell the Assembly it’s time to pass Packaging Reduction to address plastic pollution: bit.ly/5-11-26 @crystal_d_peoplesstokes @cheastie @andreastewartcousins @govkathyhochul @beyondplastics #toxicplastic #carcinogens #plasticsandhealth #planetorplastic

In this moment of blatant government corruption and ever-growing violations of the rule of law at the federal level, it's even more disappointing to watch the insidious influence of corporate money play out here in New York where an excellent, popular, commonsense bill to reduce single-use packaging, tackle the plastic pollution crisis, take a critical first step to putting NYS on track to even attempt to meet the ambitious goals in its Climate Law, as well as to try to meet the goals in the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation's most recent solid waste management plan (SWMP), was blocked by an army of special interests in the NY State Assembly in June. But we're not going to stand for their deep pocket-funded endrun again this session. My letter in the @dailyfreeman calls on Assembly Speaker @cheastie and @nysa_majority to get their priorities straight and focus on doing what's best for all of New York's residents and environment rather than what's best for a handful of mega corporations that are getting rich at all of our expense and PASS the Packaging Reduction & Recycling Infrastructure Act (A1749) without delay in 2026 as their colleagues in the State Senate have managed to do without issues for the past two sessions running. And a big THANK YOU to my own state reps, @michellehincheynysenate and @amsarahana for their steadfast support for this critical piece of #climatechange #environmentaljustice #plasticpollutioncrisis #publichealth and #wastereduction legislation. 🙏Get ready cause January is going to be here before you know it...
