From family-owned storefronts to growing startups, small businesses are what keep our communities moving forward. Grateful to welcome the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses team to the Assembly and recognize the incredible entrepreneurs being honored during National Small Business Week. Their success stories are a reminder that investing in small businesses means investing in people, families, and the future of our communities.

Proud to deliver a $6.5 million investment for a new year-round athletic complex at PS 57. This state-of-the-art facility will be a shared space for both students and the surrounding community, supporting youth programming, physical activity, and safe recreation all year long. For too long, Park Hill has gone without the kind of modern recreational space that so many others take for granted. This project helps close that gap, giving families a place they can rely on and young people a space to grow, stay active, and build community. Grateful for the partnership of @nysenator_jss @statenislandda @nycschools @nycyouth .

Great to celebrate Opening Day with @downtownlittleleague A new season starts on a stronger field. Appreciate the @bpcparks for delivering upgrades like batting cages, protective netting, and new water stations so our kids can play and compete at their best.

Honored to throw out the first pitch at @snugharborlittleleague 63rd Opening Day. Nothing like seeing our kids take the field full of pride, energy, and heart. Here’s to a season of teamwork, growth, and a love for America’s greatest pastime.

The Statue of Liberty isn’t meant to be seen through bars. Today at Castle Clinton, I stood with my colleagues in government to call for a better balance, one that keeps people safe while preserving the view and accessibility of this space. Millions come here for that moment, and our neighbors live with it every day. We can keep security in place while preserving what makes this space so special. Thank you @repdangoldman for bringing us together.

New Yorkers aren’t asking for perfection, they’re asking for relief, and that’s exactly what we need to deliver in this year’s budget. At a time when families are feeling squeezed from every direction, our focus must stay clear, lowering costs, protecting working people, and making everyday life more affordable. That means tackling rising expenses like housing, transportation, and insurance, while investing in the opportunities that help families get ahead, not fall behind. An on-time budget matters, but a budget that truly works for working families matters more. I remain committed to fighting for a final plan that puts affordability first and delivers real, lasting relief for the people we serve.

Our retirees gave decades of service to this city, showing up every day to keep our communities running. The benefits they earned, including their health care, are not a luxury, they are a promise. We cannot allow that promise to be weakened. Retirees living on fixed incomes should not be forced into plans that increase costs, limit access to care, or create uncertainty about the doctors they rely on. Retirement should bring peace of mind, not new burdens. I stand with New York City retirees to protect the health care they earned and to ensure it remains reliable, comprehensive, and affordable.
