THE SUITES - The Legian is an "all suites" hotel so every room is large! Entrance hall, butler's pantry, living area, lovely separate bedroom, ensuites with double basins, and large balconies that all overlook the ocean. perfection đź‘Ś.
THE ARCHITECTURE - What a presence. The Legian is the "grand dame" of Seminyak. When Jaya Ibrahim (who spent time under Anouska Hempel) designed this property 30 years ago, he got it right. Artisan craftsmanship abounds and it's stood the test of time. Current upgrades see refreshed suites and lobby while staying true to Ibrahim's foresight and the original DNA.
THE VIBE- Sophisticated, calm and with just then right amount of style Think timeless rather than trendy, relaxing and beautiful rather than a "scene". There are plenty of places to party in Seminyak, but not many places to call an oasis of calm and with this much oceanfront grounds to enjoy.
CURATED EXPERIENCES- The Legian team are clued in to the best artisans, designers, restaurants and local people. They organise a great outing to Ubud's latest farm- to- table open air dining experience, Begawan Biji. Fabulous!

This house is pretty much my reason for coming to Palm Beach. Maurice Fatio. 1928. Romanesque/Mediterranean Revival. Oceanfront and known by locals as the Ham & Cheese house as the alternating brick and coral/coquina stone horizontal pattern of the facade resembles the colours of its namesake. Going down a rabbit hole during Covid and several books later on Fatio (thank you @eric.egan ), Volk, Wyeth and Mizner has brought me here. A Security blockade just before the 920 block of South Ocean Boulevard, due to a certain person in residence nearby, caused a momentary obstacle but nothing I couldn't overcome after flashing my Landmark Houses of Palm Beach book and introducing my Australian architect husband.
