📖 Last week, we hosted graphic novelist Beth Hetland (@bethhetland ), the 2025 Lynd Ward Prize winner, for an author talk at Penn State! She presented on her award-winning novel Tender and signed copies of her book.
Her visit also included presenting at the Delta High School (@thedeltaprogram ) in State College and a first-year graphic design seminar at Penn State. Additionally, Beth visited Penn State’s Eberly Family Special Collections Library (@psu_scl ) to view their wood engravings and other works from Lynd Ward.
Thank you to Beth for such a wonderful and meaningful visit!

On October 23rd, Kate Hoffman’s Delta High Essay-Writing Class welcomed author Beth Hetland @bethhetland - the 2024 Lynd Ward Graphic Novel Prize recipient for her graphic novel, Tender. Beth visited to share insights about her creative process, collaboration, and the art of making and teaching comics.
