🌟 Exciting Night at City Hall! 🌟 Last night, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the Mayor of London’s launch for Black History Month at City Hall, where my artwork, Making Waves: Alkebulan, was on display. The event was a vibrant celebration filled with art, insightful panel discussions, and captivating music and dance performances. A heartfelt thank you to @gallery_oca and @mayorofldn for the invitation! The PV for the artist at the ING Discerning Eye Exhibition at Mall Galleries has proven to be a remarkable showcase of artistic talent, and the selection of my two sculptures by esteemed art critic Paul Carey-Kent adds a highlight for me to this prestigious event. Out of a staggering 6,000 entries, the exhibition successfully curated 685 artworks, representing a diverse range of creatives and artistic expressions. My two sculptures, with their thought-provoking themes, stand out in the gallery space curated by Paul. His discerning eye for quality and innovation shines through in his selection, as he champions contemporary art that not only captivates but also challenges viewers. The exhibition itself is a celebration of creativity across various media, and visitors to the exhibition are treated to a rich experience, as they explore exceptional artworks selected by a panel of renowned artists, critics and collectors. Congratulations to all the prize winners and it was great to catch up with so many friends on the night. I was amazed to be included in the portrait photography exhibition at St Barbes Museum Art gallery by acclaimed photographer @stevepooleuk . The Preview event was well attended as he also launched his new UNCOMMONERS book. The photography on display really showed of Steve’s amazing talent for capturing people who live or work in and around the Newforest. Having your portrait taken as I first thought would be a breeze, but Steve’s eye for details and trying to capture my hands reflecting my sculptures really paid off when I saw the end results. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Exhibition ends on the 13th July and the book and prints are available via @stevepooleuk website. Today is the final day to see @mydogsighs exhibition in London at the Copeland Gallery, Peckham. A visionary as always, MDS takes you on a journey, from his most recent works on cardboard to a video installation of his unforgettable experiential spectacle “Inside” in Portsmouth. The image above shows off the breadth of MDS artistic capabilities and I am so chuffed to see the recycled wood he gave me to reconstruct and showcase his famous cans. ENTANGLED PASTS. So I visited the RA Entangled Pasts exhibition just before it just finished and felt it was a thought-provoking exhibition. It was conceived following the murder of George Floyd in 2020 and featured over 50 artist from Gainsborough to Kehinde Wiley, exhibiting paintings, sculptures and installations. However I felt it fell short in its final execution of hitting hard with the title “Entangled Pasts”. As I proceeded through the exhibition it felt more like a group show of who’s who in the list of contemporary global majority artist, not such a bad thing but a great opportunity missed to showcase other emerging talent. Despite this little criticism from me, the RA Entangled Pasts still managed to spark important conversations that hopefully will still continue at the RA as the exhibition still presented a captivating display of creativity. My favourite piece from the exhibition was Tavares Strachan’s life size sculpture outside in the courtyard called The first Supper shown in the 1st pic 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Other living artists are tagged in the pics.
