Two years ago a seemingly random vision came to me. An immersive dining experience. A night of food and drink paired with music and light. This past weekend that vision was realized thanks to the hard work and support of Susanna Peredo and Vanguard Culture. With collaborators Chef Flor Franco and Baja Food and Wine, we transformed The Chapel into a multi sensory experience filling the space with light, sound, and the smells and tastes of world class cuisine and community for three sold out nights. And I’m beside myself as I reflect on it all and recover from the months of building, planning and creating. I owe so many thanks to the huge team of people who helped to make this dream happen. To the volunteers that setup and provided dinner service and the staff that made the incredible food. To the friends that helped load gear and run cables and my creative collaborators on music and lights. And of course a huge thanks to everyone who came out to this one of a kind event and trusted us that it would be something not to miss. Space Wizard in Space creates otherworldly atmospheres of complex layered sound ever changing right in front of you as he manipulates his rig of modules and wires. No two sets are the same and can never be repeated. A unique soundscape for each performance and almost as if he’s scoring a film live. This is choreography by Beth Guerrette. She brings a flow like state to each movement in her dance making it look almost effortless while at the same time delivering something unexpected. This is Nocturnal. An audio-visual installation that imagines how city lights might evolve from sunset to sunrise set to a classic 90’s electronic soundtrack. Visuals create by @lux.lumn with music editing and some original tracks by @illpoetic513 and myself. Come see Nocturnal this Saturday May 2 at @tensixpines in the Underground Warehouse from 7-10 along with other installations and performances. Located at 2310 C Kettner Blvd, entrance on Juniper. The immersive dining experience was a huge success. Three sold-out nights of community, food, wine, light, and music inspired by and celebrating the four elements: Water, Earth, Fire, and Air. All within a space that couldn’t have been more perfect. The response was unbelievable. A standing ovation on Saturday night that was completely unexpected and deeply appreciated. Incredible feedback across the table, along with stories of new friendships being formed. Thank you to @agmunoz619 for this incredible video that recapped the experience.
