|A BOUNTIFUL BEAUTIFUL BELTANE BONANZA| Was crazily proud and honoured to returnth back to @somethinggoodworkshops last Friday evening for a night of folk-inspired printing, paper cutting, and merriment on the turning of the summer tide, on the day of Beltane. |HOORAY, MAY THE DAY ALWAYS BE MAY DAY| ‘At Beltane, quhen ilk bodie bownis To Peblis to the Play, To heir the singin and the soundis; The solace, suth to say, Be firth and forrest furth they found/ Thay graythis tham full gay; God wait that wald they do that stound, For it was their feist day,Thay said, Of Peblis to the Play.’ It was a very lovely relaxed Friday evening workshop exploring low-tech screenprinting using papercut stencils. T’was a friendly, hands-on session inspired by folk and folklore, but everyone was free to follow their own ideas and culture’s folklore too. |JEALOUS X SOMERSET HOUSE: THE WORKSHOP OF SCREEN PRINTED EARTHY DELIGHTS| Oh what a salt of the earth, soil of the earth, Earth Day celebration it was yesterday at @somersethouse live @jealous_london printing a section of the |MUSEUM OF EDIBLE EARTH| signage for people to take home with them. We again used the compost which was created by the Somerset House team on the grounds - composting and rotting down parts of their old |SOIL| exhibition. This was also mixed with coffee grounds from their cafes. We then used that compost in two ways - steeped the compost to extract as much coloured pigment as possible and mixed with @lascaux_colours print medium and glue to create a special soil-coloured tinted glue which was printed first. We then dried out compost which was adhered to our glue as the second and final layer. Thanks so much to everyone who came, it was so lovely to meet and print with so many lovely people - I don’t think I’ve printed like that for a long time! Four hours straight with no gaps, we worked out we must’ve printed with at least 160 of you, which is a mind-bogglingly incredible turnout! A massive thank you to @bakedpersimmons for helping me out for the afternoon and to @katybednarz @ial_christine for documenting the day - if any of you have got anymore photos and/or videos you’re willing to share just DM them over or tag me and Jealous so we can see you (hopefully) having a good printing time. |Ra Ra Reel| ~ I NEED ALL YOUR HELP ~ A couple of years ago for @theotherartfair I live printed with @jealous_london this cheeky little glitter sun print but allowed people to choose what direction they wanted the eyes to be - I really loved making this print but … …something that should not have been forgotten were lost in the sands of my hectic mind. History became legend. Legend became myth. And for one and a half years, the print passed out of all knowledge. Until, when chance came, it ensnared my thoughts again…the sun rose from the clouds of my mind… With the good weather we’re having this week and spring springly springing up FINALLY I think it’s time to edition, but as I asked those people all that live printing time ago: ~ WHAT DIRECTION SHOULD I PRINT THE EYES?~ 1.
