When we first met, it only took 15 minutes for me to know I could let my guard down with you. You ordered a Negroni at the bar & I was waiting for it to arrive, when I realized: I didn’t know what a Negroni looked like. And of course I left my phone at our booth and couldn’t look it up. On a normal date, I would’ve not said anything and just kept the convo going. But for whatever reason, I had to admit my confusion to you. And you laughed. And out of the thousands of ridiculous things l’ve said since then, I will always remember that as the first. We’ve been a couple for a year now & I am so thankful that you’ve given me the space to be my authentic self. I wouldn’t trade for the world any of the time we’ve spent together and I can’t wait for more movie nights, Italian food, key lime pie, caesar wraps, walks with Bagel, puppet encounters at the Sugar Hole, dates at Chili’s, games of UNO, concerts where you dance your butt off... the list goes on. Happy one year, Cam. I love you more & more every day❤️

In 2021, I met a rootin’ tootin’ Palestinian Texan by the name of Sama’an @sam3an when we covered @aclfestival together for @texasmonthly and I instantly thought he was one of the coolest people I’ve ever met. A music journalist with bylines in massive outlets, interview credits with some of the greatest artists ever and a phone full of numbers of celebrities that he was actually friends with. And above all a genuinely nice guy. At that time, it was just me & @filo.brandon working on Real Ones, and the platform was still in its podcast infancy phase. But seeing him and @sarahanwerkhan crush interviews at ACL motivated me to keep pushing the platform forward. We stayed in touch over the years and late last year, Sama’an told me he had an opportunity for me— @diondiarecs & @the.how.bazar were looking for a media team to help them document BIG Fest, a Gainesville, FL based festival celebrating music, culture, performance art, food, and diversity. It was a perfect alignment, both in terms of music taste and values. This weekend, I’m flying to Florida with 6 of my closest friends to be part of an official festival media team for the first time ever. And the lineup is INSANE.

Today feels like the biggest day of my life. In the fall of 2018, WNUR sent me to my first concert EVER with @atashaheen at Metro. Masego and VanJess put on a hell of a show and since then, live music has grown to become what I live & breathe. 5 1/2 years later my incredible team at @realonesshow had the opportunity to curate our own lineup in this historic 1000+ capacity room.
