Announcing mentor # 3 who will be working with the artists throughout GRID Series Outer Perth, 2025, Thomas Supple, founder of @before.erofeb Thomas is an artist and curator working in the field of contemporary music, ephemeral installation, and sound. An experienced cultural consultant, Thomas has unique experience in major festival direction, cultural destination events and site-specific installation. A graduate of the University of Melbourne Law School, he was a former founding curator for Dark Mofo, MONA (2013-2019), and has an ongoing curatorial appointment at Carriageworks, (SYD). Thomas has curated programs for both Melbourne Festival (2010-2012) and Perth Festival (2021-2023) and regularly provides advice for peak bodies, government agencies and private business alike. He has worked with a slew of International and Australian artists, including World premiere performances from Nicolas Jaar (Against All Logic) and Antony & The Johnsons. Along with key Australian premiere performances from Bjork (Cornucopia), FKA Twigs, Jonsi & Alex, Einstürzende Neubauten, St Vincent and Tanya Tagaq. Applications open until July 1, 2025 Link in bio

Before - CREATES - The Port's Call: a collaboration between @byronscullin & @suppletom The Port's Call is a new large-scale audio work commissioned by @fremantlebiennale . Beginning November 3, as vessels arrive and depart the Port of Fremantle, a unique soundscape will accompany each. A rite marking the ancient ritual of voyage, the landscape of the port sings out to the titanic floating cities of commerce. Sheer walls of steel reflect and filter the calling of the shore, echoing voices and transmissions across the City of Fremantle. Audible signals interleave the spirit of the mariner with the threads of trade-generated data as these operatic machines travel to and from the horizon. A short sunset work will also occur each day to mark the horizon at the transition of day to night. Times are subject to vessel movements between 6 am and 10 pm daily.
