Be.Bendigo welcomes the proposed Bendigo City Centre Action Plan 2026â2029 and its focus on strengthening the future of our CBD.
When seeking feedback weâve consistently heard from our members and partners about the need to revitalise the city centre and create an environment where businesses can thrive. As an organisation operating within the Mall ourselves, we understand the importance of accessibility, positive social activity and a vibrant CBD.
Reopening the Mall to traffic has been a longstanding priority raised through our advocacy and engagement with members and stakeholders. If supported, it has the potential to be a significant turning point for the city centre.
Importantly, this plan goes beyond one initiative. Attracting investment, activating vacant spaces, improving safety and accessibility, and supporting a stronger city centre economy will all play a role in Bendigoâs future success.

This week we celebrated the official launch of the 2026 @bendigobankofficial and Be.Bendigo Bendigo Business Excellence Awards application period, with more than 120 nominees, sponsors and business leaders joining us at our Nomination Celebration event â¨
With more than 800 nominations received â the largest number to date â this yearâs awards continue to reflect the strength, diversity and innovation of our local business community.
We also heard from past winner Julie Sheahan from @3dphysio , alongside head judge Mel Buchanan, who shared their experience of the awards and offered practical insights to support this yearâs nominees as they take the next step.
