The entire Beatdisc team is still buzzing from Beatdisc Lane at the @parramattalanes festival. We had a blast, and it was truly an honour to share our 30th anniversary celebration with all of you! Thank you to every customer who visited, called, messaged, made an order, or emailed us - your support is the only reason we've made it 30 years! A massive thank you also goes out to all the bands for their incredible performances and to the City of Parramatta event producers for letting us celebrate our milestone and giving us Beatdisc Lane for Parra Lanes. It was an incredible honour and so much fun! Keep an eye out for more photos and videos of the event later this week. If you have any great photos from the Lanes event, or even just old photos from over the years, we'd still love to see them! Submit your photos via the link in our bio. Thanks so much from the entire Beatdisc crew: Pete, Tom, Scotty, Tiah, Hayden & Mihos + Vic (original owner). 📸 @sebisstillawesome

RECORD STORE DAY 2026 AT THE ONLY RECORD STORE EVER - @beatdisc Every year a wonderful event happens that connects us all at our temples of tone, our dens of disaster, our havens of harmonies: @recordstoredayaustralia / RECORD STORE DAY. As it was written in the gatefolds passed down from our ever loving collectors, we amass and give thanks to the pressers for making such wonderful grooves in multiple colour variants and high 5 friends in the process. It is usually best shared with chatter about the pursuit of the sacred rare presses in the $5 bins. As for me; my thugs misfits and vandals - the only place I pilgrimage for is Beatdisc, where upon I perform the ritual of filming people and making a hyperactive mess of vision. This year, it’s this short burst of fun. Mind you, I spent more time on hanging out and talking shit over filming. So, apologies on that. Either way; I love this place. I also love RSD, as it’s my public holiday of religious importance. May the grooves be with you. Bass bless. #recordstoreday #recordstoreday2026 #beatdisc #cratedigging #vinyl

Back in stock! 😍 One of our fastest-selling reissues of the year, Died Pretty's landmark 1991 album Doughboy Hollow received it's first ever vinyl re-issue last month via the gang at Eminent Vinyl and @magneticsouthrecords . It came out a day before RSD, and all of our copies were gone by the end of the weekend, along with the entire pressing of 500! Thankfully a 2nd pressing was swiftly issued and landed on our doorstep earlier this week. Back in stock and available online or in-store for $55 a pop. "Died Pretty's run of greatness possibly reached its peak with 1991's Doughboy Hollow. It was an album which finally and belatedly really saw the band rise above the musical underground and gain a wider audience. Spearheaded by incredible singles such as D.C., Godbless and Sweetheart, Ron Peno, Brett Myers, Chris Walsh and co. were accompanied by the likes of cellist Sarah Peet and The Go-Betweens' Amanda Brown on violin to create a lush, widescreen sonic aura that still sounds magnificent 35 years later. This is truly one of the great Australian rock albums, artwork and packaging faithfully recreated and remastered and ready for re-release in 2026."

Happy release day to one of our favourite Aotearoa songwriters @aldousharding ! 'Train On The Island' is Harding's 5th studio album and sees her once again working with long-time collaborator John Parish (PJ Harvey, Dry Cleaning, Sparklehorse). The album "settles comfortably into warm, softly psychedelic territory, boundaried by sparse folk ballads and electronics. In between, the mood tends to the cosy and languorous – at odds with the occasional lyrical intimation of mental disrepair and medication" (Alexis Petridis). On first listen we're already big fans! Out today and in stock on indie-exclusive blue vinyl for $50 or digipack CD for $25.

@americfootball LP4 has arrived! The new album from pioneering midwest-emo group comes a long 7 years after LP3 and (in our opinion) is well worth the wait. On high rotation since it's digital release last Friday, we now have copies of the indie-exclusive Golden Rod 2LP press ($75) and jewel case CD ($32) via @polyvinylrecords . Online and in store now. "When the idea of recording a 4th album came up (for the second time), American Football knew things were going to get darker. After touring a year’s worth of sold-out 25th Anniversary shows around the world and releasing a covers album (featuring Iron & Wine, Ethel Cain, Blondshell & more), the quartet of Mike & Nate Kinsella, Steve Lamos and Steve Holmes linked up with producer / engineer Sonny Diperri (My Bloody Valentine, M83, Kurt Vile) to record what would become their most substantial record to date. Blending atmospheric textures with emotive, post-rock style catharsis, LP4 is unlike anything American Football have recorded thus far, yet it fits right in with their evolving and beautiful catalog." #americanfootball #lp4

@chaptermusic have long been one of our favourite Australian independent labels. As well as releasing some of the best indie-rock albums of the past 20 years including shop favourites from Dick Diver, Twerps, The Stevens and The Goon Sax to name just a few, they've also played a huge role in re-issuing crucial, out of print Australian classics from decades past including The Cannanes, Tully, The Particles and more. They recently started handling their own distribution, so we've celebrated with a re-stock of some new and old favourites. Head the website for a full spread and don't hesitate to get in touch of you're after any other Chapter titles: .au/extracat/label/chapter-music/

STAFF PICK: Should - Feed Like Fishes (1998/2026) Another obscure 90s gem plucked from the archives of one of our favourite labels The Numero Group! Should are a band I wasn't aware of until this album came through on our preorder sheets a few months back. Indeed, it is the first time their 1998 debut 'Feed Like Fishes' has been reissued in over 25 years and the first time it's made it's way to vinyl. The North American outfit led by Marc Ostermeier and Tanya Maus share qualities with other slowcore and shoegaze bands on Numero's roster, but carve out a niche quite unto themselves. Texturally reminiscent of fuzzy, wall-of-sound heavyweights MBV and Drop Nineteens, their songs loop and meander with the serene, meditative qualities of indie-rock mainstays Yo La Tengo and Galaxie 500. This new expanded edition of their debut album features 10 period bonus tracks and is available on CD, black 2LP or exclusive green 2LP. Highly recommended!- Tom You can find more Numero releases over at our website: .au/extracat/label/numero-group/ @thenumerogroup @shouldtheband
