Connection, collaboration and competition were on the agenda at our wellbeing day in Wrington Warren earlier this week 🌲
To mark Mental Health Awareness Week, colleagues were invited to enjoy time in nature and take part in adrenaline-fuelled paintballing sessions or a relaxing woodland walk, as well as axe-throwing, archery and other games 🎯
“The wellbeing benefits of spending time in nature are well documented, so there was no better time than Mental Health Awareness Week to bring our teams together at Wrington Warren,” said Paula Baleson, Social Value Manager.
“It was a fantastic opportunity for colleagues from across the business to connect with people they may not usually work alongside, while also learning more about the woodland and the positive impact it has.”
Teams across the business have also been marking Mental Health Awareness Week in great ways 💚
From Wear it Green in Swindon and a fun sports day at Spectrum House, to a Bristol walking competition, there’s been plenty of activity. Colleagues also completed an inspiring 18 mile walk in Southampton, raising funds for Naomi House & Jacksplace.
Great to see everyone coming together to support mental health and wellbeing 👏

Small but mighty 💪🔬🧬
That’s the perfect way to describe our special works team's recent refurbishment of the @oxford_uni cancer research laboratory in the Radiobiology Research Institute (RRI) building at Churchill Hospital, Headington.
While modest in scale, the project will make a real difference thanks to the important research carried out there.
“The benefits that smaller jobs can provide to the end user are huge,” said Project Manager James Tombs.
"Cancer research opens up a whole new world of information that we can all benefit from."
A fantastic effort from the team to deliver work that will have a lasting impact.

We love to end the working week with something to celebrate! 🙌

A huge well done to the teams working at:
🏆 Stonehenge Learning Centre
🏆 VIVO Buckley Barracks Hangar 3

Protecting a Grade I listed campus while delivering major structural works takes care and precision at every stage 🏗🤝
Charlie Gosling, Assistant Site Manager at Beard, shares an update from @stcatzoxford where the team is removing RAAC and replacing the roof with a new cold-rolled steel structure.
Designed by renowned Danish architect Arne Jacobsen in the 1960s, the college is an iconic example of modernist architecture, so safeguarding its unique character has been central to the project throughout.

👏 Work is progressing apace at the Newton building, the third and final phase of the science schemes at Marlborough College.
The internal transformation is nearing completion, with plastering, decoration and underfloor heating complete - and even some of the laboratory furniture now in place! 🧪
Outside, scaffold is down, windows have been renewed, and concrete repaired. Hard landscaping is well underway and the rooftop turret, which provides natural ventilation for the lecture theatre, has been refurbished and redecorated.
As a live environment, works have been carefully programmed to minimise disruption to students and staff in neighbouring spaces.
Project Manager Harry Crockford walks us around the site.
Join us in welcoming some of the people who have joined Beard recently! 👋

From the classroom to the construction site! 🏗
During Open Doors Week 2026, we welcomed more than 100 students for a peek behind the hoardings at some of our sites.
Young people were given hands-on experience of the many career paths in construction - from heritage skills and bricklaying, to advanced surveying technology and VR safety activities.
One of the best parts of Open Doors Week was seeing T-Level students already on placement at Beard step up and lead site visits for their peers at Hertford College and St Catherine's College in Oxford.
It was a powerful reminder of the talent coming through, and a positive sign for the future of construction.
We’re proud to play a part in helping to inspire the next generation and showing that construction offers exciting, rewarding and highly skilled career paths 🙌

Hilsea Lido is ready to make a splash once again! 🏊
The multi-million pound restoration of this historic site is now complete, and we're delighted to have played a key role.
Working in close partnership with @portsmouthcitycouncil and @macegroup , this complex project has seen the complete overhaul of the pool, filtration equipment and changing facilities.
The keys have now been handed over to new operators @sealanesbtn , with the site set to open on 2nd May.
It's been a joy to help create a space that the community can dive back into for years to come.
