‘Sock Monkey’ Painting, acrylic on board, 32” x 48” Here is another painting documenting someone else’s work. In this case it is a sock monkey made by my friend @thalialane . While the idea of the Rocco painting (see previous post) was about making the temporary face paint permanent, this was about making a small thing giant. I have included a shot with the actual sock monkey too for scale. He no longer has a mouth as her also featured in a music video where his mouth was added on afterwards. #painting #acrylic #acrylicpainting #sockmonkey #artist #monkey

This project has been a real treat for me. Having spent close to 25 years creating BTS and other documentation content for Aardman Animations, I was asked to shoot the live action parts of this beautiful trailer for the Annecy Film Festival 2026, directed by Dan Ojari. The stop motion and timelapses were shot by Nathan Sale who also helped light some of my shots. This is the cutdown version of the longer film which will be shown at the festival itself (which I will share when I can). Because this is going on the big screen (a first for me) everything needed to be levelled up. I shot 6K raw on the Blackmagic 6K pro and used a combo of Nikon primes and a Canon zoom. I will share some BTS of the BTS at some point, but for now enjoy this little treat. Huge big ups to all the crew, it was huge pleasure to work with them all. @dannyleegallagher_ - producer @ojaridan - Director Nat Sale - DIrector of photography & moco @bdfilmuk - Live action director/DOP Dom Pitt - Editor & Compositor @leewilton67 -animator @hgreenhousemodelmaker - Art director @matissehowells - Set dresser/modelmaker @mattloveridgemusic - music @sculptdouble - Puppets/Sculpting @aleexhopkinss - Production coordinator @rich_modlen - Rigger @watgeorge88 - Puppet maker @w_davies_ - sound design and mix @steve_harding_hyphen @nataliefmckay - Creative directors @aardmananimations - Studio #Aardman #annecy

14 years ago I had the honour of filming Sir David Attenborough in Bristol doing a piece to camera. 50 years before that, in the early 1960’s my mum, had worked alongside the then plain old Mr David Attenborough at the BBC for a department called the Recorded Programs Production Unit. There were five presenters who each presented ‘very cheap radio programs based on music that was in the BBC sound archives’. I interviewed my mum before she died so I am able to tell her stories with her own words. ‘It was a very interesting job for me because i had to be present in the studio when they did these recordings. I used to time the programs. David Attenborough was one of our presenters. We were so lucky to have him because he was a lovely man. This was before he was famous really, he’d written some books and was doing some animal programs. He was a lovely person, very enthusiastic, very excited. He came in one day with a record of Joan Baez, and he said, “look what i have found! This is wonderful music”. He was very very keen on orangutans at the time. It was a big interest for him, but anyway, after I left, I found in one of the newspapers a big article on orangutans, and I thought, oh David would like this, so i sent it to him with a little letter and got a long letter back thanking me’ Another time my mums recalls, ‘I was invited to the May Ball at Cambridge and I remember telling him, and the first thing he said was “is he nice” and i said yes, and when i cane back from lunch there was a packet of russian cigarettes. They were very special in those days, sort of a funny shape, beautiful, which was a present for me to take to the ball, because smoking in those days was a very accepted part of life’. It is David Attenboroughs 100th birthday today and it would have been my mums 85th birthday two days ago. Happy birthday Sir David and happy birthday Mum x @davidattenborough #davidattenborough

Here is promo I made last month for @ferncampervans . It was shot on the DJI Mini 3 Pro drone and an Osmo Pocket 3, with a couple of the detail shots on my BMPCC 6K PRO. One day shoot in November was risky but we got it done and client very happy.
