In the Bad Room this Saturday for @bda.nyc , @luchandomusic celebrates the release of their inaugural 7" vinyl reissue of 'Que Se Sepa', with Garo @soundsbygaro , Afoqbano @afroqbano , and Mickey Perez @djmickeyperez . Chicago born & Miami raised, Mickey Pérez is a first generation American of Cuban & Ecuadorian descent fusing African, Caribbean, South American & Black American rhythms on NYC dance floors since 2008. He holds a monthly show on The Lot Radio titled BeBop Porú and co-runs Public Service, a community summer park jam series in Brooklyn. GARO is a Brooklyn/Havana-based DJ, producer, and founder of @luchandomusic . Starting in 1999 in Alamar, Cuba, he helped shape the island's hip-hop sound with Doble Filo, later collaborating with Gilles Peterson on the Havana Cultura series. Pre-nominated at the 62nd Grammy Awards and member of the Latin Recording Academy, GARO moves fluidly across disco, house, funk, and island roots. Born in Havana and based in Chicago, AfroQbano is a DJ, producer, and one of the most recognized collectors of Cuban vinyl of his generation. Saturday, March 21st we celebrate the birth of the patron saint of Dat Ass @toribious_monk with another BDA @bda.nyc session at @goodroombk — and we're running back another legendary live musician fusion in the booth with luminaries @flymyspcshp and @coulou__ ! ⁠ ⁠ A DJ, producer, and musician who can ignite any venue, TORIBIO (@toribious_monk ) is a Dominican-American artist with a passion for rhythm. Blending genres through his craft, he creates dynamic sonic experiences. With roots in church and jazz drumming, he serves as the musical cartographer for his live house fusion band, Conclave, whose eponymous album was named one of RA's best albums of 2021 and praised by the New Yorker and Rolling Stone. His DJ sets seamlessly mix pan-Latin, electro, jazz, and funk, captivating crowds globally. Known for fostering community through movement, his Brooklyn block parties (Public Service NYC) embody the spirit of New York's dance culture while his newly formed imprint B.D.A. is quickly becoming known for bringing these vibes to vinyl. A TORIBIO show is a full-body experience — as he always says, "bring dat ass, and your feet will follow."⁠ ⁠ Jason Lindner (@flymyspcshp ) is a contemporary keyboardist, synthesist, composer, and producer from Brooklyn, NY, known for his work with Now Vs Now and with David Bowie on the album ★ (Blackstar), for which producer Tony Visconti called Jason a "Godsend."⁠ ⁠ COULOU (@coulou__ ) is the stage name of Aaron Alcouloumre, a Brooklyn-based multi-instrumentalist, producer, and trumpet player known for blending indie/R&B with electronic dance music.
