That’s what everyone says before they register and then they arrive and think “why was I even wondering?” Have questions, ask away⬇️ Hope to see you all this summer in Flagstaff.

What an experience helping these women chase 2:37:00. A large group of women (mostly with the @tracksmithstamata crew) followed Steph, Sarah and I for the first 1/2 marathon, 1:18:21. My legs were already in a rough spot, but I knew I had to keep going. Knowing how much work these ladies have put into this I kept thinking every extra mile I can make it is getting them closer to the goal. At 15 miles the pack started to split, some feeling great and picking up the pace, others starting to feel the grind of the marathon. At 18 miles the plan was to stop and get a ride back to the finish with Steph and Sarah. But I decided in that moment I was going to go as far as I could. Hit 20 mile right on 1:59:30. My pace day was done, my legs could no longer keep the 5:58s going. I also no longer had a ride so the best way to the finish was to simply struggle on course and make it myself. In the end it was a bit of heartbreak for @libby.benzer 2:38 and @alyssa_ondash_ (2:40). On the other hand it was a lot of success when you let go of the numbers. For Libby it was her first marathon, so to start at 2:38 is an amazing start. And for Alyssa, well, let’s just say she had to puke and rally. So hard to throw up your fueling with 10km to go and still get going and fight to the end for a PR! And lastly big congrats to @amanda.e.martin for getting the W and the OTQ. To be honest I was super nervous of the unknowns going into this. Three weeks ago I felt a pop in my right knee during a run and couldn’t run for a whole week. I almost didn’t even make the trip as I didn’t know how much of a help I would be. I feared getting out there and only making in a few miles. Might have been dumb of me to go as far as I did, but I guess even in your 40s you can do dumb stuff. My legs are crushed today, but I’d trade that 100% of the time for the experience I had yesterday. Thank you @eugenemarathon for a great event.

Lots of solo dad weekends lately. I love my little girl, and absolutely love coaching my boys little league games. But it’s nice to sneak away for a weekend without the kids. Pumped to be heading to @eugenemarathon to pace some Stamata women and others chasing the Olympic Trials Standard of 2:37! Wish I was a little more fit, but I’ll give these ladies all that I have in the tank. 5:58 miles until the wheels fall off. @tracksmithstamata

Little League season is off to a great start. Maybe the last time my boys play on the same team. Last night having one the mound, the other catching is something I’ll always remember. Sophia is always trying to get in the dough out to see her bros. The other day Riley was struggling and Sophia came to the fence and said RYRY you got this. His head down attitude went up and he smiled. And Steph, with a loud “that’s what I’m taking about when the boys turned a double play. #teambruce @stephrothstein

Happy Birthday Steph! Our two boys, little girl, and me are so lucky to have you in our lives. You have an incredible ability to inspire those around you. I hope you know how appreciated you are by not only your family but so many more.

Dear Ben, I know 2025 was a brutal year for you. It’s not your fault your job position ended at NAZ Elite. I know you thought you’d jump right into your next venture, but one month turned into two, stuck in a stand still month after month struggling to find your next move. I’m sure you never thought you’d be running so little, not from injury, but from lack of motivation. Feeling like you were a failure many times while the rest of your family was having great success is hard. Riley and Hudson crushing it on the baseball field, Hudson’s being a BA QB in flag football, Riley helping his 6th grade team to a state XC Championship. And all while being respectful students at school with nothing but positive remarks from their teachers. 2 year old Sophia learning all the letters in the alphabet, and Steph jumping into a new role leading a women’s marathon team all while still crushing it in her own running. All this while you seemingly just existed, struggling to find purpose or direction. But give yourself some grace Ben, because although your year was met with struggle, it was not all wasted. Your boys athletic and academic success is helped by the amount of time you put in with them, throwing batting practice until your arm is screaming. Sophia wouldn’t know the alphabet if you didn’t do the wood ABC puzzle with her 1000s of times, remember how much she sucked the first time she tried it. Steph leans on you to get the kids from school, practices, cook meals, massage her tired muscles, write her training, and pace workouts. So in 2026 keep going, declutter that garage, make some goals for yourself. Make time for yourself to run a little more, lift some weights, play a little golf. But to do this, you need to make yourself a schedule, stop coasting through the week, wr

A weekend in NYC with my girls. Highlights: Steph was 13th! Sophia was a so happy, loved the subway, called it a Cho Cho train. Seeing so many friends in the running industry Nothing like NYC Marathon to show you how many people love this simple act of running.

This is what it’s all for. New York Marathon is hard. The last 6 miles test everything that you are made of. Today @stephrothstein ran the entire race alone. She was in 18th place at 10kn. She moved up to 13th by the finish. Our two year old doesn’t care, what a gift to see mommy on the big screen. Sophia isn’t old enough to understand it all yet but old enough to cheer for mommy.

Fun day at Cow Harbor 10km. Steph was 4th, top masters (fastest ever on the course) 33:03. I was 2nd master 33:45 as I watched most of Steph’s race from behind. When seeing Sophia post race she said “dad sweaty” 3 years ago Steph won this race in a then course record of 31:50. And now we have a 2 year old telling dad that he’s sweaty. Time goes fast. These days I try to soak it all in even if the times aren’t as fast anymore. Getting in a sprint finish with a 20 something year old and the crowd going wild was awesome (BTW I lost). Thank you Cow Harbor for another great year. And a big thank you for Steph’s cousins for hosting us and taking care of Sophia race morning. @cowharborrace @stephrothstein
