Never in my life did I think it would be necessary to max out the 20 pic carousel limit but here we are...what a night @thebellyandtheeye 🖤 @thebellyandtheeye was a one-night-only showcase of film, food and art, celebrating the work of emerging filmmakers, designers and chefs - pairing each film with snacks inspired by its stories, characters and places. Part of @machinehall 's M.PWR program which waives venue hire for grassroots creatives, the intention of the evening was to spotlight emerging talent in a way that explores the connections between food and art, taste and memory, ritual and place. Playful bites of ras el hanout chicken nuggets inspired by Miski's charming Hamza in WARYA, topped with fried bananas and basbaas cagaar, a Somali green chilli sauce. Heavenly morsels of bo la lot, but replacing beef (bo) with lamb kofte and Lebanese pickles grilled in betel leaves, drawn from the ethnobotanic rituals of Justine's Somewhat Eternal. A decadent surprise of jasmine chiffon and kumquat curd hiding beneath toasted meringue (a @bb.flambe special) to match the whimsical, childlike joy of Aleese's good days. Clouds of whipped ricotta, stained violet-blue by butterfly pea - gorgeous and moody - for Priscilla's Cloud Prophecy. Messy towers of Afghan bread and tactile dadar gulung taken from the communal gathering in Gill's From The Palm Of. Labne with mint chimichurri and salatat dakwa, Sudanese peanut butter tomato salad to honour the familial love in Aleese's 7abouba. Thank you @georgestreetrsl for the culinary ingenuity and freeing Sydney from the chains of kingfish and burrata for 5 hours. All enjoyed in the most beautiful setting designed by @lastforms @andy.tt.andy.tt.andy.tt and @patrick.scott , which had the audiences discovering a new surprise every 2mins, in every pocket of the Machine...delightfully captured by the ever talented @justincueno 🖤 This was only possible through the generosity of all collaborators, guests and volunteers involved and I feel so lucky to have been able to bring it to life with the most extraordinary team 🖤 🚨 CREDITS IN COMMENTS 🚨

WOW just WOW… I guess it’s time to roll the credits on what was a dreamy night and better than we could’ve ever imagined. We want to thank everyone for making this night possible and believing in the vision of MUST x WOKBOI pres. ‘API’. Firstly our volunteers and helpers who worked harder than they should’ve and truly made the night go smoothly!!! @jsmnptrs @charlesfester @anthonyc._ @charlotte___alina , @lopez993 , Steph. Of course our guests… YOU were generous, patient, brought the energy and we couldn’t be more grateful. We are so privileged to be able to put on events like these and in these times community is more important than ever. We are very proud to announce that we have been able to raise $1500 for MSF (Doctors Without Borders) Gaza Fund, with a company matched donation to take us to $3000. We never thought an event like this could have the impact that it’s had, we’re feeling inspired, motivated, tired but hungry in every sense of the word, @must.msg will live on and we can’t wait for the next chapter. We are a fundraiser and always will be and would like to always acknowledge that our event took place on stolen land of the Gadigal people of the Eora nation, sovereignty was never ceded.
