WE BOUGHT A BUILDING! 🌇
Our next challenge is building affordable artist housing downtown. We LOVE downtown. It’s our goal to build affordable for-sale artist housing at 1518 3rd Ave. We envision one and two bedroom residences (with balconies!) adjacent to working artist studio space.
This will be a new undertaking with all the same care for community and Base Camp spunk. But we’re calling this project PARNASSUS, which is where all the muses hung out on Mt. Olympus. We hope you’ll come along for the ride 🤘🏼
Support for @parnassusproject from neighbors, downtown community groups, and friends of the arts has been overwhelmingly positive. Together, we envision this transit-oriented development as an opportunity to repurpose an underused downtown building to provide affordable housing and work space for artists.
We are encouraged by our early conversations with officials and other groups interested in working together to uplift this area of downtown. Won’t you join us in building something special at PARNASSUS?! 💜
@parnassusproject
We just bought a building! And we’re looking to infuse it with creativity starting NOW! Are you looking for a studio? We have over 60(!) spaces available across 8 floors in the heart of downtown Seattle. Our address is 1518 3rd Ave.
At PARNASSUS we have all kinds of spaces available. Some are cozy at approximately 100 square feet (sf) while others are massive and more than 500 sf. Folks can even rent entire floors! We have private spaces and shared spaces. Some have huge windows and balconies(!) while others are interior. Each floor is unique, has a kitchenette and ample restrooms. The building is access controlled. Each artist will have their own entry code. Elevator access is restricted by floor, so you can be sure your creative space is safe.
Eventually we will convert this building to affordable for-sale living and working spaces for artists. We hope to start construction in one year (around April 2027). When that happens we will try our best to find new space for artists, but cannot provide guarantees. But we can promise we will try very hard! As such, these are temporary working spaces and will be offered at an affordable rate.
Studio prices are based on a formula for fairness. Smaller studios have a higher price per square foot while larger studios have a lower price per square foot. Studios with massive windows and natural light have a small premium. Shared spaces have a discount. Overall, the range is from $1.25/sf to $2.50/sf.
What will happen when you complete this survey? We will follow-up with you within two weeks (hopefully sooner) to schedule a tour to see the space in person! Responses received before May 2 will have tours scheduled for the week of May 4.
Tour times will be:
Wednesday, May 6 from 6pm - 8pm
Thursday, May 7 from 10am - 12pm, and 4pm - 6pm
Friday, May 8 from 12pm - 2pm
Saturday, May 9 from 12pm - 2pm, and 3pm - 5pm
We can’t wait to see what you will create in this space! We are so excited for the opportunity ahead and are stoked for the community we will build together!
FOUR YEARS LATER..... and we’re still kicking! 🤘🏼That’s right–it’s our F@%*in’ Birthday and we want to celebrate with YOU! 🥳 We’ve been dropping FOUR LETTER WORDS since the very first show so we decided to go all out for an exhibit dedicated to our favorite little epithets ‼️
Four is a formidable number. There are four directions, four legs on a chair, four seasons, and YEAH, all our favorite words are 4-letters. We want to celebrate our Fourth Anniversary with you and your work! 🎉 Show us your hottest and most beautiful take on your favorite FOUR LETTER WORD. Get funky. Have fun. After all, it’s a party! 🎊
LOVE is a four letter word, so is F&%* (in all its meanings), so is WHAT? and HELP and HATE. HOPE and HUGS... OKAY, okay, okay you get the point. You got that MOXY 💃🏻 We got that MOJO 🕺🏼Let’s see it 🪩
Growing up doesn’t mean we’re getting any wiser; we love the growing pains that have gotten us here together. We were weird punk kids in year one, and we’re still grooving to that tune. Don’t be afraid to indulge in the profane, or focus on the divine if you like. We want to see you get funky. And as always, have fun. Hit us with your best FOUR LETTER WORD.
We want to see your paintings, sculptures, photographs, drawings, installations and more! We only ask that you help us tie it back to a FOUR LETTER WORD. We cannot wait to see what you share! Here’s to four whole years of mischief and mayhem together with you. We wouldn’t be here without you so won’t you help us celebrate?! Join us for our fourth birthday festivities at the opening of FOUR LETTER WORD. We hear there will be cake 🎂 and another (admittedly cheap) champagne toast 🥂

This May, the Seattle Downtown Art Walk is celebrating AANHPI Heritage Month by highlighting AANHPI artists, galleries, creative spaces and small businesses who help shape the texture, color and story of downtown Seattle.
Meet Junk Mail Jewelry, a queer Filipina lampwork glass and stainless steel chainmail artist based in Seattle. Her work turns jewelry into sculpture, with each one-of-a-kind piece exploring texture, form and bold personal expression.
A lifelong artist, she has been making her own jewelry for as long as she can remember. In 2024, she started Junk Mail Jewelry with the goal of creating bold, unique pieces for sensitive skin and sensitive people.
Her work feels playful, strong and full of personality, the kind of jewelry that does not quietly sit in the corner. It has shape, shine, movement and a little downtown attitude. Each piece invites people to wear something handmade, unexpected and fully their own.
Come see Junk Mail Jewelry in person during the Seattle Downtown Art Walk. The Downtown Art Walk happens every 4th Friday from 5–8pm, free, all ages and self-guided.
The 4th Friday is a beautiful entry point, but the support does not have to stop when Art Walk night ends. Keep following, sharing, visiting and supporting the artists, creative spaces and small businesses that help keep downtown’s creative pulse moving.
Honor the stories behind the work and support local artists by taking home pieces that feel meaningful to you. 🌿🎨
