30 songs for 30 years 🎂 Today is my birthday and we are being a lil self-indulgent yet still on-theme, of course. These are 30 songs that have impacted me or remind me of really specific times in my life. Songs that are like when you smell a certain candle and it transports you back to someplace! If you shared any of these songs with me over the years: thank you. And let me know yours! (And come to the garden show May 9th tickets in bio heh okie that’s all I got 🍅) #livemusic #songsilike #thanksforyourtime

Next Bad Press Special Event Alert: a Saturday afternoon garden show! Several months ago I posted something along the lines of “I have big plans for this grid” and then proceeded to provide almost no evidence of this. So here we are, back on the grid, to let you know that we are hosting this cutie little garden show in collaboration with @dannyritzstill (who also made this poster!) and his new project @oldhorsetalkhoney , featuring @sarahkatherinelawless and @thebedroomer - a full lineup of Bad Press alum from across the years :’) I hope to see you there for what will certainly be a really sweet time. Will be returning to some sort of “normal” house show format within the coming months, but for now it’s a spring of special events 🍅💐 link in bio as always!

I’m quitting streaming (and you can too!) Welcome to this experiment lol, gonna start popping in every month or so with the music I bought in an attempt to help myself - and if I’m lucky, some others out there - remember that a world of intentional listening away from the dependence on Big Streaming is possible if we want it to be. Today I bought “The Past Is Breathing Now”, a new EP by beautiful Brooklyn-based artist @lillygitlitz I also bought a longtime favorite of mine, “Mixtape” by Bay-area California-based musician @_bobbing Send me ur tunes I would love to hear them :’) back soon with more of this! #streaming #musicstreaming #musicindustry #localmusic #thanksforyourtime

February house show info is alive and at the link in bio :’) Gonna start grid-posting posters because this year we are going to be professional (scary!). We have big plans for The Grid’s color scheme too, which I have disclosed to no one and the plans only live in my mind right now. But you’ll see, and you’re gonna say “woah what a well-coordinated grid!” Hope to see you there friends, to warm our cold winter hearts ❤️🍅

At the first show of 2025, I couldn’t figure out how to work the basement lights. I was upset and convinced that the bands - all strangers - would think I was unprofessional. They didn’t. At the last show of the year (aka the holiday party), the lights didn’t work again. Thankfully I’d had a whole year to remind myself that the last time this occurred, nothing catastrophic happened. It feels good to learn! Some of you may know that I believe in the Power of the Fridge, an idea coined by my friend @brennerkrone__ that basically is exactly what it sounds like: you write what you want on a Post-It note, stick it on your fridge, and remove it when it’s been acquired or accomplished. In addition to the 11 house shows we had this year, we launched a video series that turned out more beautifully than I could have imagined for a project in its first stages. I owe @finleyking my life LOL truly he worked SO hard to make this first ten-episode season what it became, which, in my opinion, is a really awesome celebration of live music in cozy spaces (and therefore a celebration of the entire crux of this operation!!). And the text animation, handwritten lower thirds, and logo by @kellykingstudio were the icing on an already delicious cake. Aside from my experience in middle school AV club (where I killed it, by the way), I don’t know much about audio equipment and I tend to shy away from it. I have @samlevinemusic to thank for his really awesome work mixing all the music in these videos, sometimes pulling great audio out of places it frankly should not have been based on my mic placement lmao. Huge thanks to Fin, Kelly, and Sam for sharing their skills and for their patience with me ❤️ I learned so much this year and I am so grateful to this community for showing up in support of live music. To pay attention is to show love I will say this every day for the rest of forever!! I have big hopes and dreams for 2026, I don’t even necessarily know what they are yet and that is also beautiful. When I figure them out, I’ll put them on the fridge. Stay tuned friends 🍅 (and big thanks to @thebardrachel for the first photo and @__dacos__ for the epic high-five last photo 🥰)

Episode Ten: Lilly Gitlitz! Folks we have made it to the LAST video of Season One of this series. December was so far away when we started this thing and soon it will be only a memory!! I will save the Extreme Sap for a proper New Year's post however I WOULD like to say that it feels very beautiful and symbolic to have @lillygitlitz close out the season with us.  Lilly is one of several good friends that I made through this whole operation. We recently went to a diner in the West Village late at night and gossiped. It is overwhelming to think that this person I have known for only a year has become such a good buddy in a place that still often feels so new and intimidating. I hope you, too, have made one OR many (OR somewhere in between) friends in the almost two years that we have all been together! Thank you for watching as always! Video link in bio, Tearful Year in Review/Huge Thank You to the Team coming soon 🍅

Episode Nine: Danny Ritz! I challenge you, Dear Viewer, to watch this video and not smile one time. I certainly tried - I even paused writing this caption, went to watch the video again, and surely enough: I smiled. Danny and Leo make it easy and you will soon understand why! Thanks for watching, link in bio as per ushe 🍅

Episode Eight: Peter Stone! We forgot to take a photo but we have this incredibly cinematic still to introduce this week’s artist :’) I met @peterstonemusic and @anterra.eve at an @onpacificstreet show in the wintertime. I discovered today that it was on December 6th, 2024 - almost one year ago today. I love how beautifully these dates keep lining up! My internal clock may be severely decalibrated to daily time management, but it seems to keep a great record of dates on which I’ve met some of the most beautiful and ethereal musicians and pals. Thanks for watching as always, link in bio 🍅

Episode Seven: Sam Levine! There is something sadistic about making a notoriously particular musician nit pick and mix his own audio for a project that isn’t even his. But alas we have done it anyway 😎 And for doing it, and for many other reasons, @samlevinemusic is an unsung hero of this operation. I met Sam three years ago today - a fun little synchronicity that I hope is meaningful. I have heard this song ad nauseum for three years, and now you and your beautiful ears get to hear it too. Thanks for watching as always, link in bio 🍅

Episode Six: Heaven Swan! Okay yeah so last video I was like “it’s fall it’s time to start acting like it!!” and now I’m bringing us right back to summer with a recording from August? Does this woman know what she wants?! NO of COURSE not but what I DO know is that you will love this week’s video featuring the beautiful @jenn_fisch aka Heaven Swan. I’ve known Jen for almost eight years and she has very much been one of the only mergers of my “old” and “new” lives since moving to New York and undertaking all of my little projects, such as the one you are witnessing right now. I am so grateful for her! Everyone say thank you Jen!!! Thanks for watching friends, link in bio as always 🍅

Episode Five: Sockeye! It’s fall! Well, it’s been fall, but it’s time for us to start acting like it! We have a new intro and a cozy new setting (nothing more autumnal than Piano in the Kitchen!) for this week’s episode. Hayden of @sockeyemusic ‘s quest for a real piano for this video led us to @lillygitlitz ‘s apartment, in which the sound and setting of said piano REALLY deliver. Fin sent me a still from this video on the day and I spent basically the entire rest of my afternoon freaking out about how awesome it looked. Does it sound just as good? I certainly think so! Thanks for watching friends, link in bio 🍅
