Update from Everest! Following a six-day trek, some bad weather and some sickness, Tim Batstone from @hbleisure made it to base camp. Tim is in good spirits and despite the delays due to the ice fall, fingers are crossed that the way ahead is now looking clearer. Don't forget to sponsor Tim, if you haven't already - as the bacta Charitable Trust is one of his chosen charities. The link is in our bio #everestchallenge
We were delighted to partner with @chriswebbmp to deliver a £2,000 donation from the Bacta Charitable Trust to STAR (Stand Together and Recover) in Blackpool.
STAR provides a safe and supportive environment for individuals on their mental health recovery journey, and we’re proud to support the continuation of this vital work in the community.
Great news for the Friends Of Kings Gardens volunteers, who will be able to use this donation presented on Silcock’s balcony bar …towards making these beautiful gardens look even better @standupforsouthport@bactauk@serena_silcock_prince_@kingsgarden 💜🌿

We were delighted to work with @patrick.hurley.mp to present a £2,000 donation from the Bacta Charitable Trust to Friends of King’s Gardens Southport.

We’re proud to support their efforts and help ensure this important work can continue.
Many of you will have seen the news reports about the large serac of ice that is threatening to fall at any moment on the route to Everest basecamp. This means that it is currently too dangerous to proceed. So it is a waiting game for Tim and Kenton and the other climbers for this season. They are in good spirits and making new friends - as you can see in this picture! They are also very hopeful that the ice will fall and they will be on their way once more! Tim is raising money for a number of charities including the bacta Charitable Trust and you can donate by following the link in our profile #everestchallenge
"We have left Kathmandu and have arrived in Namche Bazaar via Lukla …just starting the trek to base camp.." Tim Batstone's latest message from Nepal. Tim will be one of the oldest people ever to attempt an ascent of Everest and he is raising funds for the Bacta Charitable Trust among other good causes. We will keep you updated with his progress and if you would like to donate you can do so via the link in our profile #everestchallenge @hbleisure
🎠"Amusement arcades are at the heart of the Great British seaside."
Our members spoke with @bbcinkent about the pressures facing seaside arcades.
Despite generating £804m and supporting 14,000 jobs, the sector has seen a 25% real-terms decline since 2015, with rising costs and outdated regulations squeezing margins.
We’re continuing to work with Government to ensure arcades can thrive and remain at the heart of our coastal communities.
Farewell to Tim Batstone and HB Bear! The daring duo set off today for Nepal to take on the incredible Everest attempt. Tim is pictured here in a hyperbaric chamber last week taking in pressurised oxygen to help heal his knee ahead of the attempt (although he said beer later did a good job too!). If you haven't sponsored Tim - who is fundraising for a number of charities including the Bacta Charitable Trust - then please do. You can find the link in our profile.

Help Tim Reach the Top! 🏔️
Former Bacta President Tim Batstone is taking on one of the world’s toughest challenges — climbing Mount Everest — in support of the Bacta Charitable Trust!
At 67 years old, Tim will be one of the oldest people in the world to attempt the summit. And he’s doing it despite a knee and foot injury.
And just a couple of years ago, Tim was collapsing almost daily, with his heart stopping. A pacemaker was fitted, but it was only after being prescribed anti-seizure medication that the episodes finally stopped.
Since then, he’s trained relentlessly — most recently in Argentina — and will be guided by the incredible @kentoncool
Tim sets off later this month — and we’d love you to support him on this extraordinary journey.

Safer Gambling Week 2026 will take place from 16–22 November this year, Bacta, the Betting and Gaming Council and the Bingo Association have announced today.
The campaign will see the whole industry come together to champion safer gambling and highlight the tools available to help customers stay in control.
"Safer Gambling Week continues to demonstrate the value of a united, industry-wide approach to promoting safer play. Last year’s campaign showed just how effective it can be in reaching customers and raising awareness of the tools available to help them stay in control.”
“Alongside the BGC and Bingo Association, we are committed to building on this momentum, working collaboratively to ensure high standards are maintained and that customers are supported to gamble safely.” - Joseph Cullis, Bacta President
