Standing on a bridge seeing apartments illuminated around you, being understood by a friend who knows your story, witnessing someone pull their life together like tenderly tying a shoelace; these are moments where we find each other in the soup of it all and choose to really see one another and stay. I see the blue around you as if we carry the hard times we go through around and within us like a glow. We filmed this video on super 8 with our friend Wyndham Garnett @afistfulofstars with help from Katianna Knittel @katiannank at some of our favorite spots near our home. Dani Ducharme @daniducharmee drew beautiful, luminous drawings on top and wrote out our lyrics. Thanks to Brett Miller @el__miller for letting us hang out with his horses.

Blue Around You is out today 🌀 Recording this live with one of our musical idols, Phil Weinrobe, at the Chicken Shack — surrounded by talented musicians and friends — was one of the best moments of my life. The energy in that room was captured in a way I’d never experienced before, from the fiddle solo to the vocal take to the tambourine Phil pointed to Nick Kinsey to pick up mid-song. Phil is a master of his craft and it was an honor to work with him to bring this song to life. We leave for a national tour with @ray___bull starting tomorrow. ‘wheels’ is out now, featuring babehoven and billie marten written into my phone’s voice memos while driving alone in a snowstorm listening to my Townes van zandt live cd i finished the song with maya in hudson ny, and eventually recorded the final version live with a dream team at midnight in door county, WI in our beautiful mobile studio that @sethengel.musicguy and @trackinghead constructed in a day (helloooo control room w a bed) I wanted to write a song that really let my voice shiiiiine, and the final vocal take is the original scratch take, sleepy and loose maya and billie recorded their angel harmonies remotely and perfectly inspired by a gas station attendant a couple years ago telling me ‘may your wheels stay on the ground’ + inspired by the ‘trio’ album (dolly, linda, and emmylou) Written by Ella Williams and Maya Bon
