4TH OF DECEMBER (SECOND DAY)
‘The Bura Suite’ is an interdisciplinary sci-fi fairy tale set in a speculative future on an Earth almost completely covered in water, on which the mountain Velebit remains as one of the last existing pieces of land. In the story, two women head off searching for the wind Bura throughout the vast ocean that came to cover most of Earth’s surface.
About the artists
Elena Štrok is an intermedia artist and designer. Her artistic practice centers on the creation of experiences and images – whether on paper, screen, or stage. Since graduating from the Sandberg Institute in 2024, she has continued to explore the liminal spaces between artistic disciplines, engaging with them both conceptually and practically. Her work has been exhibited and performed at various places across Europe, including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb and Felix Meritis in Amsterdam.
Ante Medić is a composer and guitarist based in Amsterdam. His passion for music was sparked at a young age and has been an integral part of his life ever since. Ante is active in the field of jazz and popular music and has performed at numerous venues across Europe.

After three long (and short) years, I’ve finally managed to revisit Porto.
Along with me, The Bura Suite found its way back to the ocean, as we took part in an exhibition curated by @lightravel at @deliceiras_18 as part of an art weekend organised by @galeriamunicipaldoporto . For those in Porto interested in the book, there are still a few copies left at @dbooks.3000 and @deliceiras_18 !! Fee free to DM me for more info :)
Huuge shoutout to @guyfleisher with whom I collaborated in making an even more experimental version of The Bura Suite haha. Thanks to Guy for making the oscilloscope simulation in no time and gathering his sound library for the performance 🩵 Was really nice to work together.

5th of May I'll be bringing an old and dear piece of mine back to life. Baby Universe is back, being rewritten in new languages and rearranged with new sounds and clothed in new attire. For this occasion I'm collaborating by the greatest of great @octetantemedic and @andofrasyeah and @hildurelisa is crafting a magical dress for the occasion. My favourite @eapostolovski also wrote a beauty of a text for the expo and we'll have a killer technician @pola.6 in the houseee 💙

The world is a strange place. Amidst all the chaos, I would still like to appreciate that my work is being featured in the latest exhibition at the Museum of contemporary art Zagreb, Natura po_etica.
It's a good exhibition, showing works by many artists old and young whose work I grew up with and admire. Many thanks to @suzanamarjanic@foockan@natasa.ivancev for creating the concept and organising the exhibition!
And so, amidst all the chaos, I would still like to invite you to check it out and find my work 'the Healing Water Book', a documentation of singing performances I did with the goal to thank the waters of the world for existing.
The exhibition is open until 24th of May.
We are happy to welcome the new tech fellows to the Rijksakademie!
The Tech Fellowship Programme brings together art and technical expertise. Developed by the Rijksakademie in 2022, it offers artists and designers the chance to work as technical specialists with the aim of preserving traditional craft knowledge and exploring new technologies in the workshops. In this way, we can continue to innovate and respond to contemporary challenges, such as environmental transition and digitalisation.
Tech Fellows 2026:
Elena Štrok (print lab) is an intermedia artist and designer whose practice is rooted in storytelling. During her fellowship, she will focus on experimenting with materials and processes connected to lithography, specifically those that are non-harmful to the environment. She will use these techniques to create an artist book as a sequel to her ongoing series The Bura Suite, combining material research with narrative and publication-making.
Damianos Zisimou (paint lab) is a visual artist based in Rotterdam and Nicosia. In his fellowship, he explores the material foundations of painting, approaching it as a process of revealing and concealing through layered surfaces. He will experiment with supports, pigments, binders and surfaces to study their interaction and their effects on transparency, texture, durability, drying time and lightfastness. The results of this research will be compiled into a practical guide for the Rijksakademie community.
YP Yuanpu Wang (media lab) is an artist and visual researcher working with speculative light ecologies. His project, tentatively titled Between Pixels and Photons, develops a hybrid ecosystem in which natural, artificial and digital light can be translated into each other through software-based workflows. From sunlight becoming particles to sensor data triggering lighting systems, his research treats light as a material with agency rather than just a tool for illumination.
Ruth Legg (library / collections) works at the intersection of publishing, archiving and artistic research, focusing on how collections, books and knowledge systems can be activated as living tools for artistic practice and shared inquiry.
