I’d like to take a moment to thank my fine friend Matthew Azevedo. Matt has been involved in the Wondersmith Studio project since the very beginning (Fall 2021!!) - both with the fantastic folks at
@acentechpics and on his own (now a professor at
@umasslowell ) Matt did a noise study, documenting trucks passing by and crickets at night, to determine how much sound isolation we should shoot for. Then Matt advised on all the nuances of sound isolation, quiet HVAC, and much more (in an antique building no less). Later, Matt measured the room and designed custom acoustic treatments (built by
@soundwallconstruction ), creating a reflection free zone at the mix position and targeting the problematic bass modes. All along Matt was a pleasure, even a thrill to work with! Today, this room is not only visually gorgeous (credit to
@lucasmulder @emigrepictures for the shots 😍) but sounds phenomenal. It is accurate for mixing, and with just the right amount of reverberation for tracking acoustic instruments. Between the main room, dry iso booth, and area under the loft there are sonic options. And we are featured in the June issue of
