Acentech is pleased to announce the launch of its new innovation portal, The Lab @ Acentech! lab.acentech.com Innovation is in Acentech’s DNA, and has been since our inception. Curiosity and rigorous inquiry lie at the core of what we do, stemming from a belief that innovation fuels us strategically, advances our knowledge and problem-solving capabilities, directs our growth, and inspires us to share our progress with the world. Acentech is more than a workplace – it's a research lab, jam space, and nurturing environment for social change. The Lab @ Acentech is an interactive platform designed to communicate our research, our latest achievements, and the application of exciting new technologies, including our web3DL® acoustics simulation tool, where you can hear how different acoustical treatments affect the sound in a space. You will find web3DL in two of the articles below, have a listen! "Please join us in The Lab, to learn and also to contribute. There is no telling what we might do together in the future." - Benjamin Markham, FASA, LEED AP, President

It’s an exciting week in Philadelphia, where the Acoustical Society of America (ASA) is holding its biannual conference and the National Council of Acoustical Consultants (NCAC) gathered to mark its 64th anniversary – founded here in Philly – and to honor one of Acentech’s own. We’re especially proud to celebrate former Acentech president Carl Rosenberg, FASA, who received the Paul Boner Award for outstanding contributions to the science of acoustics. Carl’s remarkable career as a teacher, scientist, administrator, and leader reflects the very highest standards of the profession. Acentech president Ben Markham, FASA, was honored to celebrate Carl at the NCAC awards ceremony. At the ASA meeting, several Acentech experts also shared their work with the acoustical community: “Quantifying Trade-Offs Between Acoustic Absorption and Embodied Carbon in Interior Treatments,” written by Milena Jonas Bem and Kristen Murphy, and presented by Kristen Murphy “Well! Now!” – A Legacy of Curiosity, Enthusiasm, and Kindness,” a tribute to acoustician and professor Robert Coffeen, presented by Liz Lamour Croteau, CTS-D “What the Orchestra Needs and How Acousticians Can Help” and “Signal-to-Noise Ratio in Restaurants: Fine Lines Between Terrific and Terrible Dining Experiences,” presented by Brandon Cudequest ‘Teaching Acoustics Through Comparative Listening in Real and Auralized Spaces,’ presented by Kelsey Rogers We’re proud of our colleagues for advancing conversations around acoustics, sustainability, performance, and the human experience of sound. Congratulations to all on a wonderful week of recognition and knowledge-sharing! #Acoustics #ASA190 #NCAC #Sustainability #AcousticalConsulting

As urban development pushes construction ever closer to hospitals, research facilities, and cultural institutions, protecting vibration-sensitive neighbors has become one of the more consequential challenges in modern project management. In Bill Yoder's article, learn how thoughtful planning, equipment selection, and real-time monitoring work together to keep construction moving without crossing the thresholds that matter most. This article also includes an interactive game to see if you can balance speed, cost, and vibration limits to not surpass the thresholds in place to protect various types of neighboring spaces! The BSA Cultural Facilities Network, in collaboration with MIT and Perry Dean Rogers | Partners Architects, invites you to a behind-the-scenes tour of the Edward and Joyce Linde Music Building (Building W18). A striking new landmark on MIT’s West Campus, the Linde Music Building brings together the Institute’s highly regarded music program—serving over 1,500 students annually—under a single roof. Designed by SANAA in collaboration with Perry Dean Rogers | Partners Architects, the facility supports a conservatory-level program and hosts a range of ensembles and chamber groups. This 60-minute tour, led by Linda Just, AIA, Senior Associate at Perry Dean Rogers | Partners Architects, and Vasso Mathes, LEED AP, AICP, Senior Campus Planner at MIT, offers a rare opportunity to explore the building’s design and performance spaces up close. The tour will conclude with a Q&A session. Note: Advance registration is required. No walk-ins permitted. Space is limited—register early to secure your spot. How do you design an orchestra rehearsal room—one with a hybrid acoustic surface—that truly supports ensemble performance? In a recent article for Treble Technologies (acoustic modeling software), Jonah Sacks explores the acoustic strategies behind the Warner Theatre rehearsal hall—where clarity, balance, and flexibility are key. https://bit.ly/treble-case-study #acoustics #performingarts #rehearsalspace #treble

Acentech is pleased to celebrate the completion of the new Racquet and Recreation Fieldhouse at Princeton University, designed by @sasakidesign We provided comprehensive acoustical consulting services throughout the complex: from recommendations for interior finishes to ‘tame’ the reverberation of the court and fitness facilities, to room acoustics, sound isolation, and mechanical system noise and vibration control measures. Our goal was to ensure announcements are intelligible, players can communicate cross-court, and athletes, staff, and visitors alike enjoy acoustical comfort and safety within the facility. 🎾 📣 Read more about it: https://bit.ly/PU-racquet #Acoustics #HigherEducation #AthleticFacilities
