INTERLUDE Pt. 1 is an exhibit that felt like such a breath of fresh air. To see paintings of us at rest, in pause, in joy is a blessing. @jasminmanningart ’s talent invites the audience to digest a variety of mediums, canvases and vibrant color. Challenging the notion that Black people must always be in motion or on alert, each piece highlights the subject in stillness, in pause, at rest. You may also notice a familiar face in the piece titled, Summer’s Over and I’m still digesting that myself. More on that later. I was so lucky to be able to facilitate this Manifest Station for @itsmoodboardcreative ’s first “Flow and Find” at @ayespaceforus I had a great time talking to other creatives about the power of play, visualization and networking across and it sparked some ideas for myself and my own play practices. At the Manifest Station, I invited you to dream bigger and use guided prompts to envision and call in exact what you want. Baltimore might be on to something forreal! 👀 Had the pleasure of visiting Hooper House in Baltimore City. This is a home to Baltimore Creatives & Entreprenuers like @atmamakokos , @ayespaceforus , @secondfloorapartment , @tact.bespoke and more! Shoutout the homie @maevatheradiant for putting us on! If you haven’t been to see make mud at @ayespaceforus , you need to run don’t walk to go see it, sit with it and take a moment to digest what it really means to “get it out the mud”. What does it look like to become something else and what becomes of the things that shaped you thus far? This exhibit curated by @thesolasystem opened on her 35th birthday and is “staged as a reflection of how she has been living while becoming. Each section honors a key person and the lessons they carried.” “Mud is not filth. It is foundation.” I implore you to visit this exhibit and browse every nook and cranny. The room is filled with gems from Black artists, artisans and creatives. A perfect capture of culture, style and talent and proof of the power of collaboration.
