Sandia Academy’s Career Fair hosted representatives from departments across AVUSD, the Town of Apple Valley, VVC, and more! Student were especially excited to collect all of the stickers and merch that was passed out.
Rio Vista’s TKers dove into the Traveling Tidepools and discovered lots of different ocean dwelling animals! They touched a shark, stingray, starfish, and more. They also listened to the sound of the ocean in some seashells.
Today, SBCSS honored nine recipients who were named San Bernardino Countywide Classified School Employees of the Year! ⭐

Mariana Academy’s middle school students had a special visit from a furry friend at their Career Fair! Investigators from the Riverside County District Attorney’s Child Exploitation Team spoke to students about how they got started in their careers, what they do on the day-to-day, and how to be safe online. @k9_chewie was also there to demonstrate how he, an electronic detection K9, does his job. 🐾
Profe’s AP Spanish class at AVHS was visited by Author Christina Garcia! Christina is the author of one of the books they study, REN: The Arrival. She read the students an excerpt from the book’s sequel, REN: The Revival, which will be published soon, and brought a a special REN addition of Loteria for them to play. Students who won Loteria received REN themed prizes!
GHHS girls swim earned a spot in the Championship heat of finals for CIF-SS in three events. Sosetina placed 3rd in the 50 Free. Our relay team members Sophia, Melana, Bethany, and Sosetina placed 4th in the 200 free relay and 5th in the 400 free relay. Congratulations on your hard work, amazing sportsmanship, and teamwork!
Vanguard Preparatory’s drama class put on a showcase of their compilation of monologues and dialogues called, “You’re Invited”! They got the audience and the staff members laughing!
Week 9 is complete for the SHOCK students, and the growth continues to show each and every day. 💪
The students are becoming stronger as a team, improving week by week while learning valuable real-life lessons that will help shape their future.
This week, students learned about juvenile court proceedings and real-life legal consequences for poor decision making from Deputy District Attorney J. Roth. Students gained insight into how choices can impact their lives and future opportunities.⚖️
Students also explored career paths and available resources with K. Avery from Granite Hills High School. During the instruction, students participated in building and writing resumes to help prepare for future job opportunities and career success.📚
The SHOCK students continue to push themselves mentally and physically as they move closer to completing the program. Stay tuned as they continue their journey toward graduation.
