portland ice facility - 01/31/2026 // yesterday, a union organized protest marched to the portland ice facility from a nearby park. thousands of people attended, including tons of children and family members. for the simple act of standing in a driveway, ice decided to attack the entire crowd with “less lethal” munitions and so much tear gas that my camera stopped working multiple times. in the first photo, a border patrol agent fixed his 40mm launcher at my head.

Very excited and grateful to have my work featured on the cover of @thepointmag ‘s latest issue exploring themes around violence. Go check them out and get an issue on their site! I also answered a few interview questions about my photography, and my thoughts on the relationship between violence and beauty, which you can read through the link in my bio.

I’ve uploaded a body of work that I shot at the ICE facility in Portland, OR to my website, please check it out if you are inclined (link in bio). I spent many days and nights in clouds of tear gas, with a B10 in one hand, and a GFX with one of three fixed lenses in the other. I was shot multiple times with munitions, and saw massive levels of violence directed toward people usually just standing and chanting. // From early summer 2025 and through the winter of 2026, the ICE facility in Portland, Oregon has been a flash point of local protests. The variations of protests and events locally have been contributing to the national discourse on how community members can resist ICE’s presence in their cities. It’s also shown how federal agents respond to this resistance, consistently with violence and massive amounts of chemical munitions. The tactics from federal agents continually escalated, and in response, more and more residents continued to organize and show up in protest. These photos focus on the federal agents and their actions, who repeatedly claim to be working in the interest of safety for the community.

in a tear gas cloud - portland, or ice facility 02/01/2026 // yesterday, federal agents again filled portland’s air with massive amounts of tear gas and other chemical weapons. tons of people miles away complained online about the effects, including people driving on portland’s freeways, bus drivers forced to pull over from the effects, families sitting in their homes, and even people at a hospital up-wind from the facility. i personally saw a five year old half a mile away walking on a sidewalk unable to stop coughing while saying “ow” over and over.

vincent, a 55 year old ER nurse, shot directly in his left eye with a “less lethal” munition by ICE while standing peacefully and legally on a sidewalk during a protest in portland, OR. photographed in his home by me for a piece still to be finished.
