Ghost Media and Afters are teaming up to present the Pōneke leg of Soul In Motion’s first ever Aotearoa residency.
Expect a high-octane, full spectrum night of future music straight from the heart, headlined by none other than Soul In Motion’s top dog, NEED FOR MIRRORS.
Joining Need For Mirrors we have two of SIM’s brightest stars - Ōtautahi-based pair AUTOMATIC and SINGR.
Both of these producers have been working hard producing tracks for Soul In Motion, receiving all sorts of international recognition and popping up in your favourite DJ’s track listings.
This tour represents an opportunity for them to showcase their sound domestically and demonstrate what the underground of Aotearoa drum n bass really sounds like in 2026.
Opening things up, we have the capital’s busiest selector, PEARLY. Fresh off a run touring with the legendary Shapeshifter, Pearly is an expert in deep and soulful drum and bass, and is planning to open up proceedings with a thoughtfully curated mix of liquid and classic 90s dnb.
On closing duties, we’ve called up Wellington’s very own OG, D-DOG, for a masterclass . After skanking out to him open for Grooverider a couple months ago, we were reminded of D-Dog’s supremacy on the decks, and for a night celebrating drum n bass at its truest and most uncompromising, we couldn’t think of anyone better to close.
On microphone duties of course is Young Gho$t. A man of many genres, he makes no secret about his love for drum n bass, and is exalted for a night that truly celebrates the sound in the way that he perceives it.

It’s Release day for SIM2X (Out Now)
Following the successful launch of the SIMX series with Singr’s SIM1X, Soul In Motion Records continues its mission to spotlight artists who have risen through the label’s Artwerk series. The next chapter comes from @automatic_nz , one of New Zealand’s most distinctive and forward-leaning producers, with his latest release SIM2X.
Building on the momentum of his recent Atlas EP on the main Soul In Motion catalogue, brings together four of Automatic’s standout contributions from previous Artwerk releases, now reimagined and compiled into a cohesive artist showcase. Adding to this collection is an exclusive new bonus track, ‘Spirits,’ a deep, rolling cut that perfectly encapsulates Automatic’s signature blend of atmosphere, groove, and soul.
The SIM2X EP reinforces Automatic’s growing catalogue on Soul In Motion and introduces his sound to a new wave of listeners discovering the label through the SIMX series.
In keeping with the visual continuity of the project, the SIM2X artwork draws inspiration from the four colour shades featured on the Artwerk volumes where Automatic’s tracks originally appeared a reflection of both his creative evolution and the label’s ongoing legacy of artistic connection.

Out Today : Étape 25. A 12-Track Digital Compilation Celebrating the Sounds of 2025.
Soul In Motion Records proudly announces the release of Étape 25, the label’s first-ever digital compilation, bringing together the defining sounds of 2025 into one cohesive project. Named after the French word for ‘step’ or ‘stage,’ Étape 25 represents a milestone for the label both a reflection on the year gone by and a step forward into its next creative chapter.
Spanning 12 tracks, the compilation features standout music from Cloud Lord, Wagz, Kuttin Edge, Javano, Heron Flow, Unknown Face, and more a diverse lineup of artists who helped shape Soul In Motion’s identity throughout the year. Each track has been handpicked to represent the evolution of the label’s sound, offering listeners a journey through deep, emotive, and dancefloor-driven Drum & Bass.
To make the release even more special, Étape 25 includes an exclusive new and unreleased track from label boss Need For Mirrors, crafted especially for the compilation. This brand-new cut encapsulates the forward-thinking, cinematic, and atmospheric sound that continues to define Soul In Motion Records.
