Auto Action Developments

Really need to get out racing again soon, although I spend most days working on race circuits my true love is driving fast on them and only done it twice so far this year. Really hoping to have @haydenharrissracing in his new @msssafety sponsored 1600 production spec Swift ready for the @pembreycircuit rounds of the @btrdarallycrosschampionship where for the first time ever, we’ll race against each other at the same time.

Well the first bend in the final of round 1 @btrdarallycrosschampionship didn’t go exactly how I planned…. I’d be keeping up as best as I could throughout the day with the faster 2 litre cars and was so committed to first bend I had more confidence in my cold tyres than they had grip, so spun straight away. Not helped by braking whilst turning in to the bend too, happened so quick I couldn’t catch it. It’s a corner I can normally do at 70mph and I’d got faster and faster throughout the days qualifying heats with no problems at all but the spin meant I lost too much time and ended up coming 5th, helped due to two cars retiring mid race. We need more 1600 cars competing to give me someone to race against as it’s lonely at the rear, if anyone wants to compete get in touch. Good fun as always through and thanks as always to the marshals, officials and #btrdarallycross team.

I won a trophy! Proud to share that tonight I picked up the award for coming 3rd overall in my first year competing the 1600 Production class of the 2025 @btrdarallycrosschampionship . Huge congratulations to @shepherd.rx for a well deserved win of our class and @finnvoar for coming a close 2nd. My first year racing was a dream come true and I can’t wait till see what the year ahead holds for me in my little green racecar. Huge thanks to the #btrdarallycross team, Jordine and @jonathan_rook26 for the efforts along with the marshals and crews from the circuits we visited. I’d also like to thank @autoactiondevelopments for getting my car prepped in time, @_mddgroup_ and @alexf2003 for race support, @kjwraps @msssafety @sdonegan.graphics @js.tracksidemedia @simracing_hq and many others for their help too. Finally I’d like to thank my team mate and son @haydenharrissracing for committing to the championship for a 2nd year and spending many many late nights working on the cars plus being part of my dream to run a 2 car race team. Even though he’s absolutely f**king useless at staying awake on the long drives back from a race meeting, he’s an awesome racing driver and has an exciting future ahead. #RallyCross

Here’s some of my favorite in car footage from this years @btrdarallycrosschampionship where as the rookie I think the biggest skill learnt (which the footage shows) was learning when to come off the throttle and stay out of the pack, on occasions it’s like the last two laps of the #Daytona500 out there! Had such a great time and managed to do all rounds of this year’s championship getting me 3rd place in my class and 4 podiums. My favourite round was the two day meeting at Pembrey Race Circuit, ironically a client of mine, this was the event where I started getting ‘in the zone’ and pushing myself and the car way past my comfort zone. My confidence in a front wheel drive car especially on gravel, has grown so much throughout the year, where I’m now so pleased with my suspension set up that I’m throwing the car in to bends at speeds and angles I never thought was possible. Have I spun at all this year? Well from memory once testing on a trackday with @opentracktrackdays at #BedfordAutodrome at almost 100mph where I learnt the hard way about how weight transfer from down-changing the gears whilst braking after a long straight means the levels of grip between the front and rear tyres changes on each gear change. I also spun maybe 3 times in qualifying throughout the year, but non in a race, so I’m happy. Especially considering some races were in pretty awful weather conditions and the final in Scotland was the slipperiest I’ve ever known and I did have a small moment rubbing off the tyre wall on McRae corner but it’ll polish out. Huge thanks to so many people for just being involved and helping us, I can’t tag everyone but John, Jordine and the #BTDRARallyCross team plus all the Marshals and @ourmotorsportuk Officials across the UK, @autoactiondevelopments @alexf2003 @js.tracksidemedia @sdonegan.graphics @kjwraps @msssafety @simracing_hq @turbotechnics @haydenharrissracing @mrf_motorsport_tyres_uk @walthamservices and all the fellow racers in the Production class of our #RallyCross championship. What a weekend at a very wet #Knockhill Circuit for the final round of the 2025 @btrdarallycrosschampionship ! I came 2nd in my class (awaiting the final championship points) and this is some of my favourite footage showing how tricky it was in the wet hitting 90mph on the straights and over 70mph on the loose gravel and mud! My 17 year old son @haydenharrissracing was on target to potentially win the whole championship after building up podium places all year and winning his first heat, however another competitor spun in front of him and to avoid a huge head on collision he put his car in to the tyre wall resulting in him being medically retired from the event (thanks to @alexf2003 for somehow getting it ready to race again whilst Hayden was at the med centre, sadly it wasn’t meant to be….) He’s achy and bruised but otherwise ok, is obvs hugely disappointed that after a year of phenomenal driving laost the whole championship in a split second decision, but it was morally the right thing to do and I’m very proud of him for it. We’ll rebuild the race cars over the winter and will be back competing again next year in a variety of motorsport championships to be announced soon. So that’s a wrap on this year’s championship where after 47 years I’ve fulfilled a dream of being a Racing Driver, it’s been so cool. Huge thanks as always to our industry partners / sponsors, the championship organisers especially Jordine and @jonathan_rook26 , all of the @ourmotorsportuk marshals and officials from the circuits we’ve visited throughout 2025 and to my friends and family for putting up with me whilst this consumed me for the year. Finally to the fellow competitors in the Production Class who’ve all had such a laugh competing together, it’s been awesome and I’ve learnt a lot, thanks for not punting the Rookie off the track in his first year! #RallyCross #SuzukiSwift

It’s race week and on Saturday we’re heading to #LyddenHill for round 5 of the @btrdarallycrosschampionship !
