Thank you so, so much to everyone who came out to the book launch for BEA MULLINS TAKES A SHOT last week! 🩵 I had the most incredible time and it was so special to be able to launch the book back home in Toronto. And yes, that is a custom Glenwood Geese T-shirt that my brothers made for me for my birthday! 😁 🪿 🏒
A huge thank you to my publicist Evan Munday for setting it all up, my conversation partner Paul Romanuk for a great chat, Leaside Arena for hosting, and Ella Minnow bookstore for handling book sales!
BEA MULLINS TAKES A SHOT is on sale now wherever books are sold! 🏒 🩵 ❄️
I'm honoured beyond belief to share that BEA MULLINS TAKES A SHOT is a 2026 Silver Birch Fiction Award Nominee! 🌲
Growing up as a kid reader in Ontario, I literally used to wait all year for the Silver Birch nominees to be announced—some of my favourite childhood memories involve going down to the Forest of Reading Festival at the Harbourfront Centre and cheering on my favourite authors! I'm still a little in shock to be among the nominees this year, and so grateful to the committee for including my book. This program made me the reader/writer that I am today, and it's a total dream come true to be among so many fantastic nominees!
Congratulations to all the other nominees, and I hope to see many of you at the Forest of Reading Festival this year! Thank you so much to the @forestofreadingprogram for all the fantastic work you do to get kids excited about reading!
Super excited to be heading to the Forest of Reading Festival tomorrow at the Harbourfront Centre! Here’s where you can find me throughout the day—looking forward to seeing everyone there!

So honoured to see that Bea Mullins Takes a Shot was selected for the 2026-2027 Maine Student Book Award reading list! 🩵 🏒
From the website: The Maine Student Book Award is designed to expand literary horizons of students in grades 4-8 by encouraging them to read, evaluate, and enjoy a selection of new books and to choose a statewide favorite by written ballot each spring. A joint project of the Maine Library Association, Maine Association of School Libraries, and Maine Teachers Specializing In Literacy.
Thank you so much to the committee for including BEA among so many books I loved from last year! 💕

Of course my Oscars Book Look has to be the gold medalist hockey players who were there on the red carpet!
(But swipe for one that actually matches 🤭)
Feels fitting since my Sunday consisted of watching the Sceptres vs Torrent (minus Hilary Knight and Hannah Bilka who were obviously at the Oscars!) and then going home to watch the awards ceremony 🍿 🥇 🏒
So great to get to celebrate the launch of @matteolcerilli 's FATHOM FALL at @anotherstorybookshop in conversation with @pauljcoccia last week! I can't wait to read 🎉
And for all my friends looking for books to fill that upper MG/lower YA gap, THIS IS THE BOOK! 14-year-old MC, video games, environmentalism, & high appeal for tween readers. Plus it's set in Toronto, which is my favourite kind of book!
I'm happy to be donating a signed & personalized copy of Bea Mullins Takes a Shot to the Ramadan Market, benefiting @threadsofpeace_
For more info, read the description down below or visit the Threads of Peace IG page. Link to the auction (with lots of other great books available!) is in their bio!
Thank you to @ahmadaddam , @alaaalbarkawi , @lit.for.lebanon , @quillersmiddleeast , and everyone for all the work in organizing!
This Ramadan, we’re turning books into iftar.
Through The Ramadan Market, QuillersSWANA, Threads of Peace, and Lit for Lebanon are bringing published authors and the literary community together to transform literature into direct humanitarian action in Lebanon.
Here’s how it works:
📚 Authors donate their books.
📦 The books are auctioned online.
🍲 Every purchase funds Ramadan iftars for families in Lebanon.
$30 = one iftar for a family of five
$150 = up to 5 families fed
What do we mean by locally led and community powered?
It means funds go directly to grassroots initiatives inside Lebanon — many of them women-led — who source ingredients locally, cook within their neighborhoods, and distribute meals directly to families they personally know and identify. No large overhead. No distant implementation. Just community members supporting their own communities with dignity and care.
This is literature meeting lived reality.
✨ Buy a book.
✨ Feed a family.
Happiest of book birthdays to @pauljcoccia and @fredblunt and THE BEAR FAIRY! 🐻 🧚 I adored this sweet, funny PB about loving yourself for who you are. 🥰
Toronto friends, make sure to check out Paul’s joint book launch event with Nadia Alam and Melanie Florence TOMORROW at @mabelsfablesbookstore !
