I am pleased to be sharing our work @biomatters.llc at the Biodesign mini symposium “Architecture, Innovation, and New Frontiers”, alongside the AD book launch Biodesign, guest edited by Rachael Armstrong and Richard Beckett. The brings together leading researchers and practitioners exploring emerging directions in biodesign. The evening features a mini symposium, a roundtable discussion, a student forum, and the official AD Biodesign book launch. A belated post from a joyful and beautiful day last November. Honoured to have received the Environmental Sustainability Award at the 2025 Heritage Crafts Awards, in partnership with QEST – Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust. 🏆 The award recognises “a craftsperson or microbusiness demonstrating an innovative approach to environmental sustainability, rarely before seen, that can inspire others to explore new ways of thinking and working.” I am specially grateful for this recognition to highlight our work at bioMATTERS Studio @biomatters.llc . The beautiful medal was specially commissioned for the environmental awards and crafted by Thomas Fattorini Ltd, a company founded in 1827 by Antonio Fattorini, an Italian-speaking immigrant who settled in Yorkshire and established retail outlets specialising in jewellery, watches, and fancy goods. The awards were presented at a prestigious Winners’ Reception at the magnificent Wentworth Woodhouse @wentworth_woodhouse on 17 November 2025, supported by The Royal Mint and the Maxwell/Hanrahan Foundation. I am pleased to share some photos from @biomatters.llc participation in the ‘Future Legacies’ exhibition, part of a much larger initiative of the same title by MADE IN Platform. @madeinplatform ‘Future Legacies’ is a research project, exhibition, and publication that brought together several European partners, designers, and scientists with the shared mission of developing and conserving craft. The project was curated and organized by the Museum of Architecture and Design @mao_slovenia and Center Rog @center_rog . We exhibited ‘Hyperaccumulating Architectures: Micro Infrastructures for Mycoremediation Strategies’, and the exhibition ran across both venues in Ljubljana, Slovenia from 15 May – 14 September 2025. @biomatters.llc 3D printed mycelium bowls are designed to reflect contemporary biodigital craft and aesthetics of mycelium, symbolizing a cultural shift towards biofabrication with regenerative materials. These objects are inspired by traditional bead bowls found in various cultures around the world, containing various geometric patterns and symbolic motifs.
