🛒 Market (at the) Market 🛒 by sideway & friends
13 - 14 June
1000 - 1700 (Sat) / 1100 - 1700 (Sun)
as sideway turns 6 months, we’re thinking more about what it means for us to be situated in a market. from day one, our dream has been to make the objects we stock a bigger part of the everyday. to be able to browse through pots and zines like choosing veggies; pick up a clock or keychain or print or bag like grabbing groceries for the night; to stop by and chat about goods with your friendly (hopefully) neighbourhood stallowner.
as part of this, we’ve invited some makers to respond to the theme of the market, and bring their wares to our little corner of Tiong Bahru. you might find fish, or potatoes, maybe some pigeons, or some sugarcane cups - among many other marketable goods.
come by and do your marketing! 🐟🥔🐦🥕🍆

our market days 🛒 we’ve had the loveliest 4-odd months at Tiong Bahru - sun-filled (if lucky, windswept) late mornings and afternoons, chicken rice & fish soup lunches, folks keeping us hydrated with sugarcane & soya bean (thank you 🧡), slow conversations & many laughs, and of course, surrounded by our favourite pots and books and knickknacks and other crafts.
some snippets of our weekends these past few months, we’ve loved being a part of your weekends and hope you’ve enjoyed coming by 🌟

introducing our makers: @abrightplace__
“If we could sit together,
I would hope for it to be
honest,
unhurried,
and warm.”
In 2021, Ting left city life in Singapore
and moved to a mountain village in Yunnan, China,
where she built a home from scratch
and began exploring a slower way of living,
close to nature.
Inspired by the quiet cycles of the seasons,
and the movements of everyday life,
her plant-dyed pieces hold a grounded,
unrushed presence —
where traces of sunlight and earth remain,
with a subtle rawness,
breathing.
These pieces were first shown in her solo exhibition in 2025 - Encounter in Reunion (Portland, Oregon).
Carrying echoes of people, places,
and moments —
from the mountains, across the oceans,
arriving here,
gently meeting you through colour and words.
available now @atthesideway 💚🤎💙🧡
