this is hands down one of my most important memories of the year. 1st mainstream ball in London 🇬🇧 where I hadn’t planed to walk lip-sync but after no one came forward, we got tricked to walk if we knew just one of the songs that were listed for the category. that was a lie cause after my 10s, I was doomed for the battles 😭 but it really didn’t matter cause this moment was everything! it’s the way EVERYONE (born in the 90s or sooner 🤪) sang along with me. in unison we created a moment that people who were there still message me about.
it wasn’t 31 year *young* Athina on that stage but my childhood self living her wildest dream. so much healing surfaced for me in those minutes and remembering it now reminds me why I gotta keep pushing towards my one and only purpose. I do it for us, the millennials, the black sheep, the misunderstood, the “weird ones” with “crazy goals”, the MOONBEAMS who’s inner light shine so bright despite those who pray/prey on their demise.
the UK ballroom scene is top tier; this pro footage!! tbh, I cry looking at it sometimes. the way my whole essence was captured. the way my negative thoughts were nowhere to be found. held off sharing this on top of the phone vids cause I messed up the lyrics a little and didn’t want to be repetitive cause I overthink way too much when it comes to SM. the same kind of overthinking that’s kept me from going harder when in promoting my first EP released almost a year ago. something I regret everyday.
