I have a hard time asking for help, mostly because I understand there are others who are more in need and I often neglect myself because I give so much to my communities. Since August, I've been struggling to balance rent and bills, often having to cut back on groceries. My last project with Black Theatre Workshop and various gigs helped for a while, but now I'm facing a "Dry December" with no income and I'm behind on my November and December rent and bills. I just used what little I had left from a recent gig to pay for some groceries to get me through the week, but I urgently need some help from the community to get through the winter Thankfully, I have projects lined up for January and February, so I just need a bit of assistance to bridge the gap and lighten the load. Step into the vibrant world of ballroom culture with this introductory workshop designed to celebrate self‑expression, confidence, and community. After facilitating this workshop in Halifax, Nova Scotia and Charlottetown, PEI—where it was warmly received and an absolute hit—I’m excited to bring it home to Montreal. As I prepare for additional east‑coast workshops this summer, I’m offering this session here to continue building momentum, connection, and community. Participants will explore the foundations of two voguing styles: Old Way (Pop, Dip, Spin) and Vogue Femme. This class offers a safe, affirming space for all bodies and identities to learn the history, technique, and fundamentals of these forms. Across six weeks, we’ll strengthen your performance by exploring the core elements of both styles, discovering how they manifest in your body, and deepening your musicality. Each class offers space to refine technique, build confidence, and honour the culture that shaped these forms. Whether you’re new to voguing or expanding your practice, you’ll have room to grow, experiment, and embody the spirit of ballroom. Join us at Diss Torsion Studio, located at 372 Sainte-Catherine Street West, Studio 126 on the 2nd floor. Sessions run on Fridays from May 15 to June 19.
