This week at the Assembled Threads sewing hub, we’re hard at work on a large order of lab coats—proudly designed and sewn right here in Melbourne using Australian-made fabric. By keeping production local, we’re reducing carbon emissions and supporting sustainable manufacturing.
Hear directly from our sewing team, who are working together to deliver this order on time and to the highest quality standards.
When you purchase from Assembled Threads, you’re not only investing in quality uniforms—you’re supporting ethical local jobs, paying fair wages, and helping your business meet its ESG goals through purpose-driven procurement
Today marks the start of Fashion Revolution Week (22–28 April 2026) and it also coincides with Earth Day 🌏
We wanted to highlight circularity. Every Assembled Threads safety vest is made using recycled fabrics and trims, and is made locally and ethically.
But what happens at the end of its life? We collect, sort, repair and debrand uniforms for reuse or recycling, keeping textiles out of landfill.
Because what happens after use matters just as much as how it’s made 🦺

Our customers just need something that works, they told us:
“We need an easy way to collect used uniforms.”
So we asked a better question:
What if the solution could solve another waste problem too?
We took gawk mesh banners (a material that can’t easily be recycled)
and upcycled them into heavy-duty collection bags ♻️
✔️ Fits perfectly inside our bins
✔️ Reinforced for heavy loads
✔️ Big handles = easy lift
✔️ Drawstring closure = simple + secure
Now used across the country to move large volumes of textiles, these bags are built to be reused again and again. Reducing the need for single-use plastic bags.
A simple bag.
Made from waste.
Used over and over again.
That’s circularity.
Need a better way to collect uniforms?
Let’s talk.
It’s Fashion Revolution Week (22–28 April 2026), Day 2 is about building bridges.
For us, that starts with full transparency.
This is George (Cutting & Sampling), Maca (Operations Manager) and Pla (Production Assistant & QC).
They are part of the team behind the PPE, uniforms and workwear we produce locally with visibility at every stage of the process.

A small switch, a better choice 🌱
We love working with @library_vic , delivering another order of lanyards. Continuing their choice of a more sustainable alternative, bamboo, instead of the standard polyester.
Why bamboo? ✔️ Fast-growing, renewable resource ✔️ Uses less water ✔️ Less reliance on fossil fuels
Proof that even the smallest details can have a lighter footprint.
Thrilled to be part of @ethicalclothingaustralia Mother’s Day Gift Guide 💛
For the first time, Assembled Threads is offering a limited selection of our Melbourne-made pieces direct to the public via our Retreads website.
While we usually produce garments for businesses, this is a special opportunity to shop our ethically crafted range for yourself or someone you love.
Choose from a hand-printed linen mum and child apron set, a merino wool neck sock for warmth, a high-vis cropped fashion vest, or a cotton scrub top featuring our exclusive Aussie animal print, all truly made in Melbourne.
Shop link in bio.
Those vests look a little familiar 😉
We loved creating these children’s vests for the @alchemyconstruct ‘Yes You Can’ school program. Made right here in Melbourne, the vests featured custom back artwork designed to inspire big ideas and bold thinking.
It’s pretty special to see young students engaging with construction in a way that feels creative, fun, and full of possibility.
Grateful to have played a small role in something that’s shaping future perspectives 🦺
🌱 Circular Impact: Q1 2026
Over the first quarter, we diverted 900+ uniforms (~517kg) from landfill ♻️
Here’s the impact:
♻️ 1.86 tonnes CO₂ saved
💧 3.1 million litres of water saved
👷 25+ hours of jobs created
From repair + reuse to recycling and innovation, these uniforms are staying in circulation, not going to landfill
Big thanks to our partners making it happen 🙌
If sustainability is a priority, your uniforms shouldn’t be ending up in landfill. There’s a better way and we’re here to help you implement it.
A big shoutout to Dexus for their continued support 🙌
We’ve just completed our third order for Dexus, transforming their used vinyl banners into durable one-of-a-kind tote bags.
Repeat orders like this are more than just business as usual. They show a real commitment to doing things differently by choosing circular solutions and backing them again and again.
Proud to keep giving these materials a second life and working with partners who are in it for the long run.

Australia’s first industry led fashion and textiles manufacturing strategy is here. The @ausfashioncouncil National Manufacturing Strategy for Australian Fashion & Textiles, in partnership with @rmwilliams , is a ten-year roadmap to rebuild, invest, and compete globally.
It was fantastic to be at the official launch at Parliament House in Canberra last week, alongside 90+ industry and parliamentary guests. It was also great to catch up with Sarah Witty MP @sarah4melbourne , our local Member for Melbourne, and acknowledge the support of @mattburnellmp , zoemckenzieflinders, and @dai_le MP, Co-Chairs of the Parliamentary Friends of Australian Fashion & Textiles, who continue to champion this important strategy.
